Malum Archon Posted November 14, 2000 I think that since ID is not putting as much into multiplayer and more into single, they should also put alot into an awesome, easy to use level editor that any tom dick and harry can make a good level with. 0 Share this post Link to post
deadnail Posted November 14, 2000 The last decent level editor that was released was friggin' BUILD, and it was riddled with crashing bugs. The in-game editor within Doom 3 should come in two flavors, simple and classic. Classic, naturally should be the style of current editors that are difficult as fuck to use and usually do weird things and eat up gigs of ram. The simple style wouldn't have all the options, but it would be functional and easily learned. I DEMAND A DECENT TUTORIAL, not a bullshit tutorial that assumes I have a bm in Architecture! 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted November 14, 2000 In my opinion, BUILD sucks as editor. Yeah, sure, it has ingame preview of the level, and allow you to make changes on FPS mode, but the scripting of the level was impossible. It was a real challenge to find out how you can make multiple floors, or how to make a damn door. On doom engine, i love DCK. The only drawback i found was the inhability to run it under Win. On quake engines, i like Worldcraft because of the simplicity of the layout, but when it comes to make complex brushes, QERadiant is the one. I hate UnrealED, the only good thing was the brush properties system & the engined preview camera. 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest TossMonkey Posted November 14, 2000 I cant believe you lot are putting the UnrealEd down!!! Its the best game editor EVER!!! it is easy to use well and has excelent features. Like the ability to edit maps and code at the same time! in one package. I dont recall worldcraft doing that. or any other editor for that matter. and ITS FAST!! no 2fps 3d view. 30fps 16bit textured 32bit lighting 3d VIEW!! It is the most superior editor ever given free. I would have payed for it if it didnt come with the game. 0 Share this post Link to post
Drat Posted November 17, 2000 Well, the editors better not be TOO easy to use. Unless you want to see thousands of shitty maps by morons who normally couldn't use a map editor before. Kinda like the ones you can see reviewed at Cranky Steve's Haunted Whorehouse. http://www.somethingawful.com/cranky 0 Share this post Link to post
