Guest fragg Posted January 18, 2001 This website ......... http://www.digit-life.com/articles/nv20/index.html has engineers who specialize in analyzing in very deep detail, "New Products". If you go there, you'll be -- ABSOLUTELY SWAMPED !!! -- with pages n'pages of unofficial technical details, specs, analyses, of Nvidia's new "killer" video card, the NV20. These "Digit-Life" engineers also say it will be publicly unveiled next month. They say they've been sitting on this info for a while, out of respect for Nvidia"s privacy. But, when an Asian news site (PC-News Reporter) illegaly published 3 photos of the NV20 card this week -- they say they don't feel bound to be silent any longer. Here's the "Conclusion" of that HUGE Article. You can see by the grammar, that English is not their native language (so, to understand some sentences, you'll have to "read between the lines")...... "Well, the NV20 turned out well in possibilities (unlike the GeForce2)." "NVIDIA company proves its rank of a technological leader." "It's not clear up what will be with speed -- many things will depend on memory and programmers." "We want to note a tighter integration of the API (DX8) and hardware and wide range of technological innovations." "It's obvious .... that the NV20 series is capable to provoke a real revolution of trick effects in games." "The main thing is that game developers manage to create new games or remake the current ones......'. "Expected that the first NV20-based cards will be released by ASUS, Leadtek, Elsa, Hercules in March, and in April-May there will come GigaByte, MSI and many others." "In the very beginning of sales, the NV20 based cards with 64 MBytes will cost around $450-500, but a month later the price will little by little come down." END fragg 0 Share this post Link to post
deadnail Posted January 18, 2001 No real specs there yet. I'm still confident that it will wipe the floor with GeForce 2 cards and shoot their prices right to the ground... then I'll get one. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest fragg Posted January 18, 2001 I had the 3 photos of the card. Not now. I suppose I could again find that Asian site that published them, but I don't know if it would yield any more info -- just looking at those photos. What do you think? fragg 0 Share this post Link to post
deadnail Posted January 18, 2001 By specs I wasn't meaning standard board design, size, and chip placement! I was thinking more along the line of performance vs the GeForce 2, fill rates, and new features and the like. You know, stuff that matters. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest fragg Posted January 18, 2001 Relax, have a beer, I knew what u meant. :) BTW, I paid premium price of $325 for GeForce-1 32mb Prophet a year ago. Only did so because I needed DVI connector for my digital flat panel, which only Hercules offered. I won't buy again in a hurry. Maybe, when NV20 gets down in 200 range. Mine does everything I need for now. I feel same way as you do .... (that chasing the latest n'greatest video card @ premiun prices, is waste of money). fragg 0 Share this post Link to post
