Guest MikeTwo Posted February 27, 2001 Can they uphold the DooM legacy? iD software doesn't even have Romero on it anymore. Half the original team is gone - they're out in the field but with other companies. Don't get me wrong - I'm the uber-DooM fan here. I played that stuff till my eyes bled practically (who am I kidding - I still do)...but I'm worried that without the vision of the founding fathers, the new DooM may try too much to be innovative and new and try too little to hold to the simple "Get home from work and blow a LOT of shit up to take off some stress"-mentality that made the original so popular (among other things ofcourse). What do you guys think? 0 Share this post Link to post
deadnail Posted February 27, 2001 If you've read the Doom Bible you'd know that their original 'vision' of Doom was savagely raped from the get go. Many things simply could not be done as planned. Q3A has me concerned too, but all we can do is talk. The technology is assured, the content is under question. Hopefully our doubts will be allayed. 0 Share this post Link to post
Zaldron Posted February 27, 2001 If you check the DooM Bible, you´ll realize that DooM basically works NOT because of a complex design, but from the lack of it. This means that there´s a lot of space to work, new stuff to add, and many things to improve. No one´s betraying the original concept, but making a decent sequel. Besides, everyone at iD´s a tremendous fan of DooM, so if we are pretty damn sure that we could make a kick ass DooM, then so they should too. 0 Share this post Link to post
stphrz Posted February 27, 2001 If I were a betting man, I'd bet they'll pull it off. Wouldn't bet my life savings though. Doom3 has a good chance of being the best game ever, but it's not exactly a sure thing. That's part of what makes the wait so much fun. 0 Share this post Link to post

I think Doom would've been even better if it was like in the doom bible. 0 Share this post Link to post
