csDoom

....doesn't work on my computer. Well... doomsv.exe works, but doomcl.exe gives a big string of "can't change turbo" or something in the console and then crashes after about a second. Also, from reading messages on my server, people appear to have trouble staying connected -- they're disconnecting and reconnecting a lot. Lag is bad (that's probably just me) and sometimes weapons apparently disappear for people. Oh yeah, and apparently sometimes the weapons get screwed up, so you might have a BFG and fire a SSG instead.

I tried it tonight, and I was quite shocked to see it worked through a proxy server! I didn't even need to dial up with a modem, and that is really, really unusual.. Still, a ping of 1400 isn't fun, so I voted for "Egh!" ..... Maybe I ought to connect with a dialup next time. That would definitely help. Releasing the Quake source code was still a good thing, though..

... Oh, and for what it's worth, I couldn't run doomcs.exe either with doom2.exe. I just used ZDoom. That works fine for me..

And another thing.. This program causes some kind of memory leak. I booted my computer a couple of hours ago, I ran this program a couple of times, and now my system resources are at 24%. I'm not using this again until this problem is solved.

Aha!, sow that's why zdoom behaved so slooow when playing on nightmare, my mind went crazy since i dindn't recall my computer giving that bad framerate, but I thought it was all that monsters ready beam in again :o)

strangley, i got a better framerate with csdoomthan i do with regular zdoom. The "stuck in a wall" bug is the only one i experienced,oh and a couple of lockups, apart from that it's pretty groovy

Since I got a computer that can run ZDoom good, csDoom works great most of the time. Sometimes the lag is bad but most of time it runs great. In fact, it runs smooth enough for me to join in on some 4-5 player map32 deathmatch and at one point get 8 berserk kills in a row before getting killed again and jump up to second place when people are armed with BFGs, SSGs, CGs, and plasma.

Yeah, that was me, my sweet bitches! Berserk and regular shotgun rule.
