AndrewB Posted May 28, 2000 Let me start by saying that I get pings around 200-300, and I'm way up in Canada. That's pretty darn good. The dude with 150 is always dominany. Just by looking at the fraglist, the ping delay grows consistently larger the farther you look down the list. That tells me something. Heck, it's nothing we all don't already know... Anyway, my suggestion would be to kick a player, or at least reset his fragcount, after five minutes of being idle. This prevents dudes with 200+ frags from going and eating supper, and coming back to a new game with a swollen frag count. What do you think? 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Fly Posted May 28, 2000 It's possible to set fraglimit and timelimit :-) 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest aab Posted May 30, 2000 yea, played yesterday from estonia - it's *lot* further than canada - and had ping 300-350 on my cable. still could play and win a round :). anyway, back to topic. i have few suggestions too, or kind of a wishlist for csDoom server. i hope i may post it here and Fly will at least glance at it. 1) server log. i'd like to see server logging at least the stats for every map: fph (or rather fpm considering most dm levels are much smaller and fast paced than average q levels?), average ping (for every player?), and perhaps some other stats too. 2) server stats. similar to server log but... i don't know wich way would be good to implement it. the idea is that server should give out its current stats - who is on, what is maxclients, timelimit, fraglimit etc. if it keeps log on this then we all could get to write sctipts which update this information on web page, for example :) 3) server message (like motd). suppose somebody connects to server but doesn't know that server is running custom wad, he then gets garbled screen and stuff. it'd be nice to have server message upon connection where admin can put brief info what he thinks is necessary (wad name, web-page, uptimes/downtimes, etc). just my .02$ 0 Share this post Link to post
AndrewB Posted May 30, 2000 Okay, one thing I'd really like to see now is support for Cooperative play. When I get my dedicated server set up in Saskatoon, I'd like to be able to play a Cooperative game now and then with some friends and family. I posted this under "Programming Request" in the csDoom forum, so check that out if you're interested. 0 Share this post Link to post
