Voros Posted September 23, 2016 ^ I don't know. It seems fine in OpenGL, but software does something strange. Maybe it's related to the pallete? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jewellds Posted September 23, 2016 Yeah, I noticed that actually. The graphic I posted before is actually in the Doom palette, and that screenshot was taken in Crispy Doom. So, I don't know how the one on repo got degraded. I'd have a go myself but the Linux box I usually use Git on is broken at the minute, and I haven't had too much luck getting Windows and Git to talk in the past. Maybe I'll spend a day on it when I can. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted September 23, 2016 Chances are, the PNG to GIF conversion MIGHT have caused this. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted September 23, 2016 How about something that stands out and fits the color scheme? (It's just the colored version, with an added layer of color #497d63 taken from the website's borders, used in "color" mode in Gimp.) Mockup: 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Voros Posted September 23, 2016 Quasar said:GIF, seriously? Deutex supports GIF, BMP and PPM (meh, never heard of it. Must be an old format) fraggle/chungy/Jon probably chose to use GIF format for saving space. @Gez hey that's pretty sweet, but i like the subtle one a bit more. Your's seem too... Monochrome, I guess(can't quite put my finger on it) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted September 23, 2016 Gez said:Freedoom is built with DEUTEX, so images need to be GIF...Perhaps Detuex should be updated to support PNGs with transparency. Well, 8-bit PNGs, anyhow. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted September 24, 2016 ^ easier said than done. Chungy said the same thing you said once for GIF transparency. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Voros Posted September 24, 2016 I'm guessing it was the PNG to GIF conversion that caused that. So I extracted the m_doom from jewellds' test wad (the one that doesn't have this problem). https://github.com/freedoom/freedoom/pull/302 Hopefully, I'm correct. Edit: yep i was right. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
