Does the Baron have knees?

In next weeks episode, we will asking such questions as "How do Cacodemons float?".

The Cyberdemons inflate the Cacos via that hole they have in the back with hot Cyb breath.

As for the Barons. I always thought they had goat legs.

goat legs.

That sounds like a better comparison than 40oz's horse, considering the Baron's overall appearance. That said, anatomy of their back legs doesn't really seem different, anyway. (Well, Baron's legs and bones are a bit thicker.)

I really think that hole in the caco is, for lack of a better word, his ass. I'm not even trying to be funny or anything, it makes perfect sense to me. The caco is big and round because his body is full of gases that allow him to float like a baloon, and the hole on his back is for expelling said gases, which in turn pushes him forward. That explains why the caco can't stop going in a direction he has been pushed to(e.g by a gunblast or explosion). His body is so light, and his movement depends so much on the hole in his back that he has a hard time reorienting himself. And when he dies he deflates like a baloon too. Same thing for the pain elemental, only he "pops" violently, probably because he's filled with extremely volatile gases that he uses to create the lost souls.
If the Cyberdemon inflated the cacos with his mouth that would imply cacos are born from a cyberdemon rimming their deflated body, which really disgusts me tbh.

Anyway, what was the thread about again? Something about Baron of hell knees?

But wait, what about Mastermind...

Does it have elbows?

Well, it explains why they don't use forward kicks as attacks. But I wouldn't want to stand behind one of them.

I think almost any pic of an animal that walks on all fours is going to have those type of back legs. Evolution and the laws of physics and all that jazz. As far as the baron using them to walk upright, it does look somewhat unnatural and wrong, which I actually thing is a great design for a demon. It's from hell, it's mystical, it throws fireballs for christ's sake and doesn't die when you hit it with a fucking rocket. Its body doesn't have to make 100% sense.

Then again, bears can stand upright on their hind legs. Does anyone know if they can walk like that or is it all they can do to just maintain their balance standing that way?

So, Bear-on of Hell?

Not to mention it looks like its skin has been ripped off its torso and it has basically no flesh on its face at all.

Bears are plantigrade, like humans. Their legs are the most human-like legs outside of the primates. If you're curious about how a bear looks like standing up, first picture in the Wikipedia article. The attitude is pretty much like a human, except with short limbs and a lot of fur.

The traditional "backward knee" from goats and chicken and the like is because these animals walk on their digits or even their nails, so the knee is actually the ankle, the shank is actually the foot, the thigh is actually the shank, and the actual thigh is kinda flush with the body so you don't really notice it.

Well, a real-life encounter with a bear (and a beating/mauling from it) would be a pretty good approximation of how a Baron of Hell could actually fuck you up, minus the plasma balls.

This is a creature whose hands are constantly covered in what I can only assume is either radioactive sludge or some kind of very toxic hell mucus, I think there are bigger questions to ask than about its knees.

This; you cannot afford to mess with a bear. Even if you spend years of weight-training in a gym, you'd have to be a fool to put up a fight with it hands-on.

You know how a big lie is more believable than a small lie?

Exhibit A:

What do you think?

In that Exhibit A screenshot one can clearly and obviously see a Tendon running towards that bulge which looks like a knee. A tendon to pull his leg backwards... the models where that damn detailed !

So they highly resemble and probably function like this ;

Notice the muscles and the tendons towards the knee / bending zone... :

The baron has an earthly realism to him. One only has to replace an ostrich its feet with hooves...
seriously.... horses and goats ?!?

Whooops, you caught him green-handed! His sludge-covered hands are but a trick to distract us from his truly abominable bodily features: his ambiguously jointed legs. Worked for all these years....but not even his creators could foresee the rise of the giant collective Doom intelligence that is Doomworld. Resistance is futile against such an inquisitive force.

We already had this debate on Rome.ro over a decade ago. The clay Baron model is simply an artist's human anatomical model with it's hips turned 180 degrees, thus making it's legs backward.

Almost looks like he's dancing.

You know, at first I thought his knees were moving forwards and backwards, straight back from the pole. But then after a while it looks like his legs are actually swinging left to right. Then I look again and they're back to going forward and backwards. Truly a conundrum. I'm not sure what to believe anymore.
