Psycho11704 Posted January 26, 2016 Has anyone else seen freedoom being sold on the Apple store? Multiple apps use the doom engine along with the freedoom wads being sold for real money. The most popular seems to be "Gameception" which is sold for a dollar. It is also one of the few to actually give credit to freedoom. Another one to recognize freedoom is "Hell on Earth" It's being sold for 2$. Then, you have the doomsday series, all being sold for 1$, and, like the others gives credit to freedoom. The same developer, Gennadiy Potapov, has HacX and Shadow Warrior for free. They are handing out a paid-for game for free! (I think HacX is already free though.) Are these people allowed to sell something that is already free? And if so, unauthorized? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted January 26, 2016 Freedoom is meant to be Free in the free software sense, which means people can use it for anything, including selling it, as long as they follow a few basic guidelines. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Forgetting to give credit is a break of BSD license, so FreeDoom authors can sue these assholes. Voros Posted January 26, 2016 Didn't download a single one of them Freedoom apps, cause they are probably old versions. General Arcade created the Doomsday series, and HacX Classic Instead of those Freedoom apps, the HacX app is better, since it uses PrBoom AND has Wi-fi multiplayer! I don't think the others have that. HacX is officially freeware, so selling it would be a bad idea, very. I didn't know there was SW on iOS. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
