ReFracture Posted March 24, 2016 Interesting. I expected a bigger difference. Is the 980 really bottlenecking it that much here? my 980TI was 60 fps solid, but I didn't get the impression that it was pegged at 100%. I guess we'll get to see if things change next Thursday. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
antiriad Posted March 30, 2016 Hi, I will never get a beta code unfortunately. But I would like to ask: will someone play the beta with a GTX 960 or equivalent? I have a Gigabyte GV-N960OC-4GD and I just found out that it perfectly manages Oculus Rift launch titles in VR, with maximum details. For this reason I'm seriously thinking of postponing the upgrade of the GPU, but I'd like also a real feedback (at least on the beta) about GTX 960 and DOOM (without AA, in 1080p and/or 720p). Thank you very much. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Reisal Posted March 31, 2016 Check out my awful/aging system: AMD Athlon II X3 450 3.2 Ghz 8 GB DDR2-667 RAM ASUSTeK Computer INC. M3A78-EM (AM2) 2048MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 7800 Series (Sapphire/PCPartner) Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit I'm not gonna even bother with 1080p because my resolution max is 1600x900 on a 20-21 inch widescreen. Maybe if I actually save up and construct a new system by the end of the year with a max budget of $1200, it should be all well. I had to make some graphical sacrifices to get a good framerate to play Armored Warfare. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

DBThanatos Posted April 1, 2016 Plasma Gun said:What country do you live in? That'd be Mexico. I've been looking in ebay for more options and found indeed a few that seemed attractive, however there's usually like other ~50 usd on top of the price because of the fees and whatnot. So a 60USD option suddenly goes up to 100+USD and I already spent around $45 USD in the RAM (everything is expensive around here). I also went downtown here, to what we call "computer plaza". A big place where they sell just about anything at the best possible prices in the city. I asked all around and nobody had a 1st gen i7. There were a lot of newer processors, but nothing that old. So Im beginning to wonder if perhaps in the end I could find me a new motherboard and a newer i5 (2nd or 3rd gen), one that has at least 4 cores. That should be much better than the one I have now. AnonimVio Posted April 1, 2016 CPU: i5-3470 3.2GHz RAM: 8GB GPU: nVidia GeForce 960 (4gb) Resolution: 1920:1080 Running the game with no problems at all, 60fps, drops to 40fps when a lot of stuff is happening. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReFracture Posted April 1, 2016 Laptop CPU: i7 6700HQ GPU GTX 960m 4gb 16gb RAM 1280x720, chromatic aberration off and motion blur set to low. Holds 60 fps pretty solid. With some of the talk here I was expecting this GPU to be a total shit show here but it's quite solid actually. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
PureSlime Posted April 2, 2016 Tbh, I've always been kinda crap when it comes to computer specs. CPU: AMD A10-7800, 3.5 GHz RAM: 12 GB GPU: AMD Radeon R7 Runs like lag on lowest settings. Need a new graphics card. This one served me well for Fallout 4, but yeah. Doom beta kinda ripped it a new one. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dreamphaser Posted April 2, 2016 CPU: Intel i7-6700 4GHz RAM: 16GB GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 960 Ingame: Res: 2560 x 1440 vsync: Adaptive AA: TSSAA Motion Blur: high Chromatic abb.: high (whatever the hell that is) I'm not having any problems except with the keybindings. Everything runs smooth. Didn't find the option to turn on my actual FPS. so if someone can point out what i'm missing i'll be able to tell exactly. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReFracture Posted April 2, 2016 Use the Steam overlay. On the 'In-Game' section there is an FPS counter option you can enable. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dreamphaser Posted April 3, 2016 thanks. so at Res: 2560 x 1440 theres a steady 40 - 45 fps going on. minimal drops to 30 but never lower. so there's no slow feeling at any time. any resolution lower than that stays at 60fps. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
pro_zealot Posted April 3, 2016 For me after watching PC youtube videos gameplay and reading this forum i see that game runs smooth only on NVIDIA geforce 9XX series. Players even witch titan cards (most performence card from 7XX series) dont have 60 fps at 1080p. I really have hope that this issue will be fix until MAY 13. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Touchdown Posted April 3, 2016 So they have locked out the bulk of the video options, right? I'm disappointed by that. I was hoping to get a better look at the technical side of things with the Beta out but it seems they're too worried of allowing that yet or something. Curious. Are the currently available recommended reqs sufficient to hold a 100% steady 60fps at 1080p? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomUK Posted April 4, 2016 This isn't for me, this is on behalf of a friend:- Athlon X4 860K @ 3.7 GHz 8GB DDR3 GTX 960 2GB Would these specs cut it? I think the GPU is good enough, not sure about the CPU though. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I think the GPU is good enough, not sure about the CPU though. The GPU is definitely good enough. I just bought myself a GTX 950 and that worked perfectly fine, no issues, with the beta. That CPU is, according to this site, probably not good enough but I suppose you could try. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DBThanatos Posted April 5, 2016 Well, after a lot of thinking, finding that buying a new processor for my MOBO and all that was gonna be a lot of issues, I decided to basically sell my soul, 1.5 kidneys, one lung and my PS4 to get money to build myself a new rig. I went to the local businesses (donwtown, the best place to get stuff at fairish prices in the city) and found a couple options but Im undecided. Here's the candidates: MOBO Gigabyte H97 GAMING 3 Gigabyte B85M-DS3HA The former, is more expensive, but apparently the H97 chip is good, for some reason I have yet to understand. The latter, is cheaper, and that's that. Both take up to 32gb of RAM, which is what I want to future proof. Processor Core i5 4460 Core i7 4790 I can afford either, of course the i7 is more expensive, 56% more expensive to be exact, but I wonder if is worth it at all. For what I've read there's little gain in gaming between using a 4 core i5 and i7. But I've read that i7 is better for other stuff. I just dont know what exactly :P I do a bit of video editing in my PC, and some music edition too. Would the i7 do my any real good over the i5? The only reason Im thinking of the more expensive stuff, both the MOBO and processor is to future proof for games. Any thoughts or suggestions? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

You won't see much of a performance benefit from a more expensive board (it's mainly about features), but you will see it from the faster CPU. The i7 runs at a higher clock speed and has hyperthreading, so performance should be much better & it'll be much more future proof. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Do you happen to know if a DDR3 Kingston HyperX Fury RAM is compatible with the cheaper MOBO? I keep finding conflicting info about it. Their site seems to list some chipsets but I've read that it might just work I read about PNP vs XMP but I really dont know what all that means so far. I ask because I foolishly bought some time ago one of those sticks of 8gb, and I'd love to make sure that the thing works in the new MOBO, you know, to make sure I get to use those ~40 USD I spent in that thing :( 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Also, based on your previous posts i'd recommend skipping the i7 and just getting a higher grade i5, if they have one available. a 4670/4670k would be great and would give you the same gaming performance, better even if you get the K version and overclock for the money, seeing as a quad core is the sweet spot for games right now and the return investment on an 8 core/thread chip is a premium you don't need to pay for. Alternatively go with the cheaper i5 and invest that money into a better gpu, or a second gpu. You can always sell your gtx 960 and take the saved money and get a 970 to replace it, or the amd 380 equivalent. That is the way you'd get the maximum gaming performance across the board. With your 960 you are going to be disapointed with your game performance after blowing all this money on upgraded parts, the 960 is going to be a big bottleneck for an i7 chip and its really wasted money. You'd get the same performance on an i7 as you likely will on the cheaper i5 if you keep the 960 since that will be the slowest part of your rig in either scenario. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Clonehunter Posted April 5, 2016 The good news is I got and installed the suggested GPU (Many pages back). The bad news is that neither of my three keyboards (Two ps/2 and one usb; I bought the latter thinking that the others were flat busted, as they had issues) work anymore. Not sure what happened there. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Not sure what happened there. I have found usb3 doesn't play nicely with devices that are usb2.0 or older, especially keyboards (usb3 ports are usually color coded blue). Alternatively, some motherboard manufacturers are just shoddy, or you/whoever wired the case's front panel did so incorrectly, and you might be able to just try different ports until you find one that works. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Clonehunter Posted April 5, 2016 Okay, after some aimless messing around, the new keyboard suddenly works when I put it into a USB port on the top of the tower, but it doesn't work in any of the ports on the back, where the mouse is plugged in and working. The back ones should normally operate, as I've had a printer plugged in there and a mouse. Well, whatever, I guess. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
