Stabbey Posted August 31, 2020 (edited) The original MAP 11 from Doom 2 never really gave me a spaceport vibe, or even much of an "episode climax" feel, other than the intro of the Arch-Vile, but even that was early in the level. Heck, even the big super, humanity-saving switch was tucked off in some dark cave. So I decided that I'd make my MAP 11 take place entirely at the top of a really tall Control Tower, with the key switch at the very top. As a bonus, I even get to keep the "Circle of Death"/"'O' of Destruction" theme, because the tower is a big circle - an inverse hub, which is the level's exterior playable edge. I've finished work on the inside, and now I am currently tweaking the map to add some other towers around the outside for enemies to shoot from. (Screenshots are from a work in progress and may not fully reflect the final version.) Oh, and of course, I can't forget the Arch-Viles. There are more than these. This has been 2.5 hours of work (I also added another 2 hours to the first map retexturing it in OTEX and adding a few teleport traps.) He's preparing to release the demo today, but I told him "we need a better title!" and I came up with something that was definitely more catching than "The City" but kept it simple haha. Even gave the map a proper name ("Cityscape", I know, simple but, less lame than "The City" methinks). I'm in charge of the "writing aspect", so when he explained the basic concept and what is going on, I wrote the synopsis and the map's exit text. Bam, we done. Then I had to assemble the credits file.... ugh, that was a tedious nightmare having to go through all the added stuff's credit list to get everything in there LOL. ViolentBeetle Posted September 4, 2020 Wanted to make Wormhole-inspired MAP11 for a while now. You need to navigate through two versions of the same (Fairly small) level. If so I made some rain in an unfinished zdoom map which I can PM you and you can extract the resources from.
