Matt Eldrydge Posted October 12, 2023 Little known fact: I can, in fact, work with more colors than grey, blue and silver. This is my second limit-removing map. It was made for a community project with a focus on less-detailed map and that seems to have staled. I wanted a break from brutalism, so I decided to go back and tweak it so it matches my current experience and knowledge of the techniques I can use. There's no real change on the layout yet, but I'll make a new final fight since I'm not a fan of getting a key that just unlocks the exit and poof, that's that. 26 Quote Share this post Link to post

Just gotta add the things, then finish up the exit room and then test a little more just to make sure everything's working a-ok. It is copy-pasted to hell and back because I just wanted something huge and imposing but also had around two hours to actually map, so I hope it turns out fine. But like I make small structures that I know I want to use over and over and have them sit on tthe sideline of the map until I need them and then I copy/paste it to hell ^_^ also looking quite good! quickey Posted October 14, 2023 (edited) A very early start to a remake of my favorite master level, as I'm trying to get really into the spirit of mapping, and if all goes well, hopefully move on to more bigger and challenging things :D Take a guess as to what level it is if you dare. I was also thinking of "Parasite of Good Will" but I have the feeling that may have already been taken and/or may just be an even weirder title. Not the spiritual sequel to Beyond Time's Gate, although that too is also on the backburner. Hopefully this one get's done in time for Halloween, but I'm not holding my breath. So what's going on? Well, you've been brought back to life by UAC scientists, and you're back! For a bit of backstory, you and Robert (He's the DA1 guy) have been dating since you were teens. Your name is Julia and you're 25. And you originally died due to a random chaingunner teleporting to earth, and swiss cheesing you. Enough backstory. So now you really wanna find Robert now that you're back, and you've probably seen this coming... Everyone is either dead or a zombie, which is exactly what you see when you break out of the crate they kept you in, and get out of the sludge the crates have sunk in. Now, you're not exactly the most stable thing ever, every unzombified corpse looks exactly like you, and you constantly hear music. And you're not much better emotionally.. At least they didn't fuck that up.. You were diagnosed with depression and anxiety when you were young, you're quite traumatised, not only from the fact that you remember your death, but from the fact that you also witnessed your family die at a young age. So, you're not exactly a mentally healthy person.. But those aren't important if you have to kill all of the demons and I mean all of the demons, and eventually find Robert.. Come to think about it, you seem to be full of demon blood, which would be a plausible way that UAC would bring you back, knowing their shady shit.." MObreck Posted October 15, 2023 After some delays and taking time to build my own map for my MEDB Madness CP I'm finally ready to start building a demo map for my TC project. I'm using an unreleased map I built back in the 90s as a base for the stage. Though it will be heavily overhauled. For now I just converted it to UDMF format and booted it up just to see what would happen: As expected with no modification other than the conversion to UDMF it has deranged object placement and is missing most of its textures. Progression had been slow, my RL aren't particularly relaxing these days, so I only make like one or so room per day, there's even one day that I only drew a square and I felt asleep on my desk.
