Arrowhead Posted June 1 (edited) My 2nd mapping stream went well - a bit less technical hiccups today, than my first day! This entire deathmatch map was made in 3 hours 33 minutes, during a live stream earlier today. The texture pack was randomly selected via a spinning wheel from 40 other texture packs. This time I got AquaTex, (a smaller pack I found trickier to use than Otex) - there are obviously far fewer resources in AquaTex, so it made me think more outside the box. It definitely was a fun challenge to do on the fly. I only ended up needing to supplement it w/ two additional Doom2 textures (slimefall, and ceil5_2). A little bit of colored sector lighting definitely helped, too. Spoiler Random Doom2 Deathmatch Mapping (STREAM 2): MAP02: Acid Vats: I'll likely hop on later today (maybe only tomorrow) for another 3+ hour stream - gonna try my hand at a third random map - in a productive mood! Some of those texture packs are definitely more challenging to use than others - excited to see what I'll get next! Arrowhead Posted June 3 (edited) I did a 4th round of random deathmatch mapping! By some insane stroke of luck, I rolled the exact same texture pack I last used (5th Episode Textures) from the 40 I had added to the randomizer! Not sure what the odds of that are. Regardless, I re-rolled the randomizer, and got GothicDM1+2Tex! This is a pack that I've used before, so this was a nice easy session. The map took me 3.5 hours to complete this time. Random Doom2 Deathmatch Mapping (STREAM 4): MAP04: Deathly Domain: So yeah, was a fun time! I'm gonna develop some kind of a semi-consistent streaming schedule, and begin streaming on Twitch instead of YT. I'll announce on my DW status page when I'm doing that - I'll be streaming tomorrow again, most likely. So far, I've been able to complete 4/4 DM maps from beginning to end on stream, so off to a good start! I rolled the randomizer at the start of the stream, and got FoxTex this time! This too is a pack that I've used before, so this was a nice easy session also. The map took me 3.5 hours to complete this time. Random Doom2 Deathmatch Mapping (STREAM 5): MAP05 - 'Destiny: Dusk': I went w/ a heckbase theme in this one - I'm still having trouble w/ this texture pack in Zandronum, so I took these shots in GZ. DRON12261 Posted June 5 I finally got it. A fully working Unmaker from Doom 64 in the Eternity Engine. Which can also be upgraded by collecting demon keys. The firing mechanics are slightly different and slightly randomized (port limitations), but the way it works is roughly the same. The map took me 3.5 hours to complete from beginning to end, this time.It's really an underrated texture pack - it's amazing for making a nukage base of some kind - which is exactly what I made this time around! Arrowhead Posted June 9 I just finished my 8th round of random deathmatch mapping! I decided to make 2 maps in 1 sitting today. The entire session took me 8 hours, 40 minutes. The randomizer selected 'NMN Corp. Tex 2', and 'Darkbase' for the two texture packs. NMN Corp. Tex 2 was a lot of fun to work w, and was a fully sized texture pack, unlike Darkbase - which was from 1998, made by a 15 year-old, and only had 20 total textures and flats. Needless to say, the latter map was much more difficult. All things considered, Darkbase textures are actually quite nice - I was pleased w/ them, just wish there was more! I supplemented it w/ Doom 2 textures, limiting myself to only 5 textures from the original game. It was a lot of fun having to work w/ such a restriction! Lizardcommando Posted June 10 I started working on the 4th map in my Jungle mapset. It's a mountain base that's hidden deep in the jungles. I have no idea how big this map is going to be but I'm most likely going to incorporate some of the same concepts I had from my MAYhem 2022 Memento Moron map along with a few other stuff from my recent maps. I also had made a force-field at the start of the level, but I still have no idea how to create a proper one.
