How's the performance with those reflective floors? I find you have to be very careful with reflections in order not to tank the performance. Asking if you have any tips :)

There's no way around it. I work & play on a 32Gb RAM i5 and I'm working to get more funds to either upgrade to 64Gb of RAM or get an i7 with 64 Gb of RAM...all refurbished to save money...

On Ebay, there are great machines under 1000U$D, you just need to cross fingers to get a good warranty & no faulty parts...

I'm putting a lot of ZScript stuff into my TC. That includes stuff like an inventory system that is a hybrid of Heretic's and Duke Nukem's. Also there are no "hitscan bullet" attacks to worry about:

I'm also using 3D models for most of the static decorations. Stored in the OBJ format for minimum memory usage:

Map03 of Hardpoint Hell coming along... sloooooooooowly. It turned out much bigger than I anticipated but I didn't wanna split it into several maps for thematic reasons ._.

Two weeks ago I began making what started off as a vent map and outgrew that idea very, very quickly and became a sort of survival horror thing - definitely for the better.

 

It's like 90% done layout wise, just gotta drop in monsters and such. There's a substantial amount of Dehacked and Boom stuff going on, as I intend it to be played with no mods and in a more classic way (software renderer, no jumping, crouching, the works).

Thanks a lot! And yeah, 10X10 has given me a huge dose of inspiration for mapping in Boom/limit-removing. I was actually working on an episode that's more overtly inspired by it, but wound up taking a break from that to help a friend, then this map just kinda happened.

 

Doesn't mean my fascination with 10X10 actually went away, as you can see - though here it was more unintentional, the concrete void area is bursting with variety in particular.

 

There's also a little nod to a few Sunder maps in the cement, green and slime room. :)

in sincerely enjoy the kind of ominous feeling environnements like this corridor with windows that just lets you see boxes outside give me, those little things are the key to a heavy mood in my opinion, keep it up!!
