Kaskaum Posted March 9, 2016 In multiplayer it seems payers can modify seed and physics from what I undestood. And the speed right now is just fine. Id spoiled players too much by allowing the option of "always running" in Doom 1/2. Without this option the palyers just need to hold the run button to go faster tha a rocket. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted March 10, 2016 On those odd occasions where I boot up old, obscure versions of Doom that don't have autorun, my finger just rests on the spacebar almost the entire time. Really all the autorun does is save my thumb some effort, the only real way around this is to have the player run out of stamina like Doom3 or run in some shitty mode with no control kinda like Gears of War, but neither one would feel right in Doom. Well, not to me, anyway. (I like Doom3 and GoW, didn't intend that as a stab, just two elements I don't like of otherwise decent games.) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DooM_RO Posted March 10, 2016 You know what annoys me the most? When I see comments like "This is not Doom" and they have like 200 likes. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DooM_RO Posted March 10, 2016 You know, there is a trend on the internet. I noticed it with the Star Wars sequels too. There is a certain group of people who have preconceived notions about the game and have decided that they hate the game months before release and nothing will convince them otherwise. It's really annoying. I mean there's stuff I don't like too but I'm willing to give it a chance. They are the same people who will give the game 0/10 on Metacritic seconds after release. Funny thing is that these retarded neckbeardos think they are intellectuals or something when they are really just a bunch of degenerates. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
AnonimVio Posted March 10, 2016 Back in the 90's FPS games were called "Doom clones". Now FPS games are called "Call of Duty clones". 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

You've been praising Doom 4 as the best thing since sliced bread for years, before we even had a screenshot much less game footage to look at. You've been blaming others for criticizing Doom 4 for just as long as that. When you follow a cause with blind zealotry and attack anyone who wants to have a critical look, you push these people to respond in kind. In fact you have drawn the line yourself several times, and actively shoved anyone with less faith than you to the other side. I guarantee you you have single-handedly created a few of these comments. If you love the series half as much as you claim to, you should learn to tone it down. Fans help a franchise but fanboys only fuel backlash. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DooM_RO Posted March 11, 2016 I just want the game to get a chance. Also, I've criticized the game many times. I don't like the Cyberdemon for instance but the game ON THE WHOLE looks very good to me. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

AirRaid Posted March 13, 2016 No, Minecraft clones are called minecraft clones. There are plenty of survival games with crafting and such which are not referred to as minecraft clones. Tuaam said:On a side note, Sandbox games will start from being truly open ended to being more linear. Tell that to No Man's Sky. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
mrthejoshmon Posted March 13, 2016 I myself never see anyone actually saying these things and only ever see people complaing that people supposedly said these things. Do you have to go out of your way to look for them? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
AirRaid Posted March 13, 2016 Probably. For instance, the first time I ever saw the term "Call of Duty clone", was in this thread. Three days ago. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
june gloom Posted March 13, 2016 I've used the phrase myself, though sparingly as I don't think there are a lot of true CoD clones out there. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomzRules Posted March 13, 2016 I only call first-person shooters a COD Clone if it warrants it.... like Duke Nukem with regen health and two-weapon limit.... Duke Nukem Forever was an abomination and a failure compared to Duke Nukem 3D (which is better IMHO.) Oh and Doom 2016 is going to be fucking awesome! Fuck the haters! Doom 2016 is going to be like Classic Doom in a lot of ways. The team keeps looking back on Vanilla Doom's gameplay and music and atmosphere for a good feel for what they should aim for! So that gives me hopes!!! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted March 14, 2016 The only "clone" terms I've ever heard: Tetris clone Mario clone Doom clone Street Fighter clone Even then it's been a while since I've heard any of them, unless people are directly asking about them. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
HellVain Posted March 14, 2016 These "COD clones" are called Military First person shooters. I've never heard of someone seriously saying "COD clone". 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chezza Posted March 14, 2016 What, COD clone? Nah they are MOH Clones, the lot of them. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
june gloom Posted March 14, 2016 DoomzRules said:Duke Nukem with regen health and two-weapon limit.... Wrong. Primary feature implementation had effectively ceased before CoD4 -- the one everyone started ripping off -- had been released. This is why DNF doesn't have iron sights or "chaotic" gameplay; its gameplay is much more in line with Halo's. DoomzRules said:Duke Nukem Forever was an abomination and a failure compared to Duke Nukem 3D Is it as good as Duke3D? Probably not, though Duke3D certainly isn't the pinnacle of FPS genius either. But to call it an "abomination" is ridiculous. HellVain said:These "COD clones" are called Military First person shooters. I've never heard of someone seriously saying "COD clone". I sometimes like to call them "tacticool manshooters." In other words, arcadey FPS games focusing around faux-tactical gameplay with a military theme, with none of the depth or breadth of a proper milsim like ARMA. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Chubzdoomer Posted March 14, 2016 Something people constantly forget (or perhaps don't know about) is that in SP, there are upgrades/abilities that allow you to move much faster than normal. Source "But Martin isn’t just showboating for us. He’s also demonstrating something we haven’t yet seen in action: the player progression system. While id wasn’t ready to reveal the mechanics behind this system, they wanted to give us a taste of how players can customize their abilities to fit their play style. In this case, Martin is focused on pure speed. He’s made a series of choices that will allow him to do everything quicker. Switching weapons? Faster. Swapping weapons mods? Faster. Movement? Faster. And best of all (considering that Martin is a self-professed Glory Kill fiend), his DOOM Marine gets a temporary speed boost any time he does a Glory Kill. This enhanced speed can be maintained for as long as possible by staggering several demons and zipping from one Glory Kill to another to trigger a succession of speed boosts. Oh, and if that isn’t speedy enough, Martin also set up his Marine so he acts like a vacuum-cleaner, hoovering up health and ammo from a greater distance; that way, Martin never has to take a break from the relentlessly fast killing in order to grab any goodies that spew forth from demons (alongside the copious blood and gibs)." 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
PureSlime Posted March 14, 2016 DooM_RO said:You know what annoys me the most? When I see comments like "This is not Doom" and they have like 200 likes. The question I have for those folks is: what exactly do you want/expect in today's FPS market? Bethesda isn't going to release a rather niche retro fps game on a gamble that people will enjoy it just based on the Doom name. FPS games have changed radically within the last twenty years, and you can't expect them to release essentially the same game again a third time in the year 2016. Like, yeah I agree there are some things that I feel would work better if changed. But it's not to the point where I'd say the game we're getting is "not Doom" - it's a gross over-exaggeration. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
