Zemini Posted March 8, 2016 Actually almost all of Blizzard's beta's last about 4-6 months before release. I know since I have been in almost all of them. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted March 8, 2016 The biggest mistake was announcing the beta two goddamn years in advance... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Johnatone Posted March 8, 2016 I bought TNO because it looked fucking amazing and the ads were great. If this wasn't your motivation you're a fool or a sucker. One of the few preorder I'm happy with. TOB was awesome too. Plus the beta offer got me hands on time with the alpha (which wasn't even part of the original offer mind you, just a generous bonus and a way to help them polish the final product), something I've dreamed of being able to do with an Id game since I read about the Quake III beta in a PC magazine many moons ago. Sure, the lack of any real news for so long sucked, but it is what it is; I had an outside life and jobs and dozens of other games and a lot of sex to keep me busy in the meantime. Just be glad this wasn't Doom 3 where we got jack shit except a highly illegal alpha or RAGE where we got nothing at all. TL;DR Nobody owes you shit. You're still getting it so STFU and get a life. I'm so sick of this "Me! Me! Me! I need it now!" generation and I'm ashamed I used to be part of the problem. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ReFracture Posted March 8, 2016 Yeah, not feeling it here. Even if they cancel the beta I don't really care to be honest. I pre ordered TNO because the game looked (and is!) fucking awesome. Doom Beta was just a nice bonus. God, I need to go play TNO again and then start TOB. I'm stoked to see what Machinegames do next. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

My yearly gaming budget is very, very small, so I was taking a chance with TNO because I wanted the Doom beta. I got a really good game out of it though, so hey! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Doomguy #876 Posted March 9, 2016 I don't. Wolfenstein has been one of my favorite games and the beta was just something extra. I really don't give a shit if the beta comes out on May 12. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
BluePineapple72 Posted March 9, 2016 NO NEED TO WORRY: MARCH 31st http://doom.com/en-us/beta There is also a new multiplayer trailer but I am unable to view it right now because I am not home 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Tuskin38 Posted March 9, 2016 https://twitter.com/DOOM/status/707585892035256320 Based on the wording in that tweet, it sounds like Alpha players also get Beta access. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

How long do beta tests generally last? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Arctangent Posted March 9, 2016 Overwatch's actual beta ( vs the closed beta that was mainly a stress test with some feedback collection ) is only four days, with two days extra if you pre-purchase it. League of Legend's public beta was only like a week. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
The Civ Posted March 9, 2016 Didn't they originally say that everyone with a Beta code was going to get into the Beta, regardless of being in the Alpha or not? What the hell man. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

How do I know if I’m eligible to participate in the DOOM MP Closed Beta? The Closed Beta will be open to those who have redeemed their DOOM Beta codes included with some physical retail copies of Wolfenstein: The New Order, and to those who pre-purchased or purchased Wolfenstein: The New Order digitally prior to May 26, 2014. Yes, they did. And that's exactly what is happening. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
AirRaid Posted March 9, 2016 hardcore_gamer said:So we get 4 days of beta? How long do beta tests generally last? Usually a weekend. 3 days, 4 tops. Depends on the type of game. Some MMO type stuff ends up with longer tests. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
The Civ Posted March 9, 2016 AirRaid said:Yes, they did. And that's exactly what is happening. Ah, my bad. I read the part about how you got in if you were in the previous Alphas, and totally skipped that part somehow. Thanks. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

AirRaid Posted March 10, 2016 Which was nine years ago. Shit changes, especially in computing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

sheridan Posted March 10, 2016 hardcore_gamer said:So we get 4 days of beta? How long do beta tests generally last? This is semantic but even calling it a beta "test" is not quite accurate as id (and every other game studio ever) has their own internal QA teams to do 99% of their testing for them. That means id is not interested in having you as a tester. They are interested in letting you play the Doom beta early (which, like any real beta, is basically the finished product sans some lingering bugfixes) so you can help drum up hype right before release. Any inputs you have for id, whether bug reports, ideas for new features, or otherwise, are not going to be considered because none of that has to do with your job which is *just* to build hype for the game. The sooner you realize your opinions don't matter, the better, because that means you can stop whining and actually be happy when you get a chance to play Doom a little early like me and a few others. :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
mordecai32 Posted March 10, 2016 AirRaid said:Jesus fucking christ people, do some research. Public betas, whether open or closed, run WEEKS from release, not months, and certainly not a year. This is true for every single game that has one. Battlefront did it. The Division did it. Hitman did it. The Crew did it. CoD Black Ops 3 did it. This is how it is done. Deal with it. You have not been ripped off just because your expectations were unrealistic. This is the second time shit shit has come up. E: Oh look, Blizzard just announced the Beta for Overwatch, and it's 3 weeks before release. Well , what about Battlefield Hardline ? It had a beta test almost a year before it launched . 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
sheridan Posted March 10, 2016 mordecai32 said:Well , what about Battlefield Hardline ? It had a beta test almost a year before it launched . Different company, different policy. The point is that id's approach to the Doom beta is not unlike those taken by many other companies over the years and is certainly nothing worth throwing a shitfit over. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
