Holy shit, I've looked it up and it is really disturbing. Must have been insane back in the day.

Requiem was an awesome game, I loved it. Too bad it looks like you can't get your fingers on it nowadays (because I never bought it for myself, but a friend gave it to me for some time). I would love to play Requiem again...the athmosphere and gameplay was awesome.

And I agree that Zdzisław Beksiński created some of the best paintings regarding hell. One of my favourite is this:

It looks so creepy and unsettling to me, allthough it is so "simple", if you know what I mean. The opposite of all the overloaded, typical depictions of hell or a hellish cathedral, but still so creepy...

DOOM 3 Lost Mission Hell level was really nice, the trip on a Sea of Lava, the outer area near the beginning, Oh Man how can i forget .

Lol I remember wondering how a wooden boat could stay intact on a sea of lava. I was just like... "hell physics I guess. That explains it."

Also to expand on my last posted Dan Seagrave hell interpretation. Here is another from him. It's been interesting to see all the different styles of hell people have posted here. I've liked them all, but Dan Seagrave has the most appealing for me personally:

Zdzisław Beksiński is damn good too.

isnt that "nightside eclipse" album cover about Mordor or some Tolkien stuff? I read about some planet where it rains fucking molten glass. That sounds hellish.

Since many of you (me too) appreciate Zdzisław Beksińskis style, you should like the new Doom's depiction of hell as well. The hazy yellowish atmosphere and some of the organic growth is reminiscent to his paintings.

If I had time I would of made a Dante's inferno style doom levels in my wad. Too bad ;-( I always felt that was a great interpretation on what hell could of been.

I'm pretty happy with what has been revealed about hell so far, can't wait to see what is in store for us. Even scenery like this would be rather effective.

I think there should be a strong Sumerian influence on the Doom 4 Hell... after all Evil Dead II was a primary inspiration for the original Doom, so I'm not sure if they are going to draw from that or not.
