Maybe it explains why Doom has never been taken seriously by whoever owned it. Man, you're quite the downer, aren't you? I guess you must really hate the Build Engine games. :P 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Koko Ricky Posted March 20, 2016 I remember being convinced for quite some time, as a kid, that the Build Engine was just the Doom engine with more features. They look identical in some aspects. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
The_MártonJános Posted March 20, 2016 Wait. If Event Horizon is a 1997 movie, how could it inspire Final Doom that came out in 1996? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It being a prop from the movie, maybe somebody involved in the movie's prop department knew somebody involved with Final Doom. Or maybe somehow a prop got off the set, or maybe even just a photo of it. Who knows, it would be an interesting story though I'm sure. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Quasar Posted March 20, 2016 It seems military ammo containers just look like that period. They're shared between the movie and the box art by accident because that's what they look like. They are manufactured by Pelican to military specs for water tightness etc. 2 Quote Share this post Link to post
june gloom Posted March 21, 2016 Quasar nailed it. There's probably thousands of these things. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
IMX Posted March 22, 2016 Wrong dates aside, this is a pretty nice find Dirty Harry made. And yeah, those ammo boxes might run out shortly! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Deleted_Account Posted October 22, 2017 I think the Final Doom cover is still my favorite cover of the series. Simple yet elegant. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Nevander Posted October 22, 2017 Who designed it? We know the levels were by the Casaili brothers and TeamTNT but what about the cover and stuff? I'm guessing when id bought the two expansions they did the covers. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Skeletonpatch Posted October 22, 2017 I've always loved that Big Box, it's the only classic Doom game I have in the Big Box. Well, I shouldn't say "I" have it--it's my dad's--but I definitely plan on claiming his entire retro game collection before he ignorantly disposes of it. He also has several of the classic Big Box Sierra games. I don't think my dad realizes how valuable those things are... 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Looks like the Event Horizon art team and whoever did the box art for Final Doom found a common source of inspiration. It's a cool looking box. A cool art project might be to get hold of one of these ammo crates and spray paint it to look like one of the Final Doom boxes ("Final Doom" logo, "Two new episodes" text, etc.). Kind of like a "real life" Final Doom box if you will. I looked on eBay and you can buy empty crates like this, but it'll probably set you back at least $40-50. Although, I got slightly spooked since I realised that these things are for holding ammunition for auto-cannons, which appear to be pretty serious-looking military weapons, and I started imagining the FBI knocking on my door asking me why I was searching eBay for 25mm autocannon ammunition. Well, just in case that happens, it's only the box I was interested in, and I now have this comment I can refer to as proof :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
printz Posted October 30, 2017 I'm disappointed to know that the final Doom box is just painted to look that way, instead of really being a case like that sold in stores. First ads of Final Doom I saw made it look like that. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
