Nothing bad happens to Doom, these review is nothing, but good stimulus to made game better. I don't think they can reach commercial failure, anything else is just personal user opinions, who like or dislike new Doom.

MP need smaller maps with BFG and Chainsaw, SP is already looks perfect and release will show us final result of BIG work.

True, more than likely not going to happen, but I wouldn't doubt some mp patches to alter things. Well hopefully to make the mp feel a little better (fixing some of the common issues with the beta). Or at least some things like better balancing, and working on making the audio better.

I prefer Half Life DM's approach which was the Long Jump Module as a pick up. A lot of these type movements send you in a forward motion that is very predictable so a trained player can fire rockets or plasma in the direction you are headed in and so on. If bugs become an integral part of your game, you might as well incorporate and balance them, and make them accessible you know what I mean?

I'm not a bunny hopping or a rocket jumping fan. I never played Quake or Unreal or whatever with this method whatsoever. So I do find those classic play styles quite unorthodox and believe they're just some abused mechanic people had fun with. Now people have rose tinted glasses on and convinced you can't have a good Arena experience without stupid speed and jumping.

Same. Nothing particular about it seems incredibly broken or insulting. It has some aesthetic and mechanical things I don't like, but can live with.

I just really hope there's proper server lists and custom games in the final version. I didn't expect them here because it's a stripped down demo. But if they're not in the final release, then my opinion will definitely sour.

I spoke with a co-worker that played the alpha when he got it with Wolfenstein, and he said this open beta was a massive improvement.

From the looks of that video, the custom colors do look better for the armors and weapons than it did on my PC. so I would like to take that part back. It looked like solid colors, with no detail on my PC.

when it comes to those one hit melee kills; it would have been better if they were only enabled by picking up a berserker pack. That would have helped make the combat more interesting, while including a classic Doom feature.

EDIT:

Certain nuances would have made the game more of authentic Doom experience. For example, it would be great if they had included the blood curdling screams of Doomguy dying. Not that it has to be the same exact sound file, but something similar would have been great.

I wonder why people keep missing the fact that your multiplayer character is meant to represent you.

And the doom guy scream wouldn't represent the majority of the people who look like him. It's really obvious why that isn't there.

Do have to wonder why there seems to be a lack of, say, some sort of digital sound on death - at least I don't remember one.

Probably because they don't even know what they're talking about.
Besides. bashing on this game for banter is what the people over at steam are doing.
Speaking of digital sound on death, they might add it? I heard doomguy scream in the campaign trailer when the ol' baron rips his legs off.

Uh.. Shit-post time!

It's kinda weird anyone mentions anything about the closed alphas..
Having actually played them along with closed/open beta.
I guess new Menu UI and player customization constitutes as "Massive Improvements" to anyone super hyped and enthusiastic about Duum. Forgive me if I missed anything. I nearly fell asleep playing what feels like the same damn game modes that every generation never gets bored of..What do you call it? Derp match, dork match.. AH! DEATH MATCH. And it's equally unexciting counterpart. TEAM Death-match.

I played the MP open beta and got wildly different frame rates. The first time, I got 40 fps at 1920x1080, which I assume is right for my PC setup. But the next day, it dropped to 5 fps only.

I don't play MP that much so all this negative feedbacks about MP don't mean much to me, as my main interest will be SP and SnapMap. Doom's trademarks are guns and monsters, and we don't get the true representation of either in MP. Yes, I usually agree with Steam feedbacks, but in this case they don't apply to what I'm interested in. I still pre-ordered the game.

@DoomPhreak: I suppose there could be "massive improvements" for graphics when it comes to running on weaker cards. I wouldn't know.. Been running a Titan X GPU since last year and the only speed bumps I feel are from shitty early access games with "promises for optimization" however. I'd be more worried about the primary single player module of the game. Since it shares the same engine. Multiplayer has far less action going on. Hope they don't screw the pooch here. Anyone remember RAGE?...

Doomayonaise-that scream was for the trailer only. Look at the trailer before it. A Revenant in the screaming pose, but another scream replaces it, and the rocket launcher part: that slow muffled scream.

Obviously third party.

Then the E3 reveal. Doomguy loses both his arms, and doesn't utter a single thing.

I watched a bit of the TotalBiscuit Doom multiplayer impressions, and became increasingly irritated that he made many, many connections to Quake. The game itself is called Doom, not Quake. Doesn't really make sense to compare two separate franchises, especially since the game is called, well, Doom, and not Quake.

Stuff like "why can't the player pick up dead enemy weapons" or some other complaints in my opinion weren't too well thought out.

Yea well OBVIOUSLY it would have been better than the lack of sound.

If you read my posts, I've been very critical about Doom.

EDIT: You kind of violated the implication you're accepting of dissenting views as opposed to the rest of society, with the first line of text you wrote.

You'll see other modes then deathmatch, so why are you bitching about it?
we'll even have the ability to fight each other with monster ai with us..

Rage had it's problems I'll give you that, but the engine has been updated and is idtech 6, more people have worked on this rendition other than john Carmac, like another super genius named Tiago Sousa, he's done very good work, I'v no worries with him on this project.

how society see's this crap? what the society that you envision in your head? I'm sorry but I feel it's foolish to group something so large and treat it as one entity. there are alot of different opinions on this. I do agree everyone is freaking out way to much, doom will be fine.

oh, you again, you realise this is all id 6 right? developers hired in for something aren't allowed to take chunks of other companies engine with them. Certain affinity was told what to do and they did it, simple as that. we'll see a hardcore mode come out so calm your tits.
