gemini09 Posted April 23, 2016 Hi What's the difference between these two? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted April 23, 2016 I believe that "1.x" versions are based on OpenGL 2.0, and "2.x" versions are based on OpenGL 3.0. http://gzdoom.drdteam.org/page.php?page=download 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Graf Zahl Posted April 23, 2016 GZDoom 2.x requires OpenGL 3.x. 1.x is meant for older hardware that only supports GL 2.1 and some ATI cards that support GL 3.x but their drivers are too broken. The functional differences are that 2.x is a bit faster on supported hardware, that hardware clipping planes are being used in a few cases for proper display (like splitting a model when touching a transparent surface) and that the method to render dynamic lights is different (2.x uses a shader, 1.x uses multiple texturing passes.) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
gemini09 Posted April 23, 2016 Gotcha, thanks. Really happy to see 64-bit support too, by the way. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted April 26, 2016 Speaking of the 64 bit version (r1403), why do I not see BASSMIDI as a music playback option? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Graf Zahl Posted April 26, 2016 I can't look into your system so I don't know why it thinks it's not eligible. Maybe a 64 bit incompatibility? I have no idea. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Reisal Posted April 26, 2016 What's odd is that prior dev versions had it there just fine and doing a quick check is the 32 bit version shows it just fine. Maybe BASSMIDI isn't really 64 bit compatible? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Graf Zahl Posted April 26, 2016 That's what I would suspect if it shows up in 32 bit and not in 64 bit. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
