They are touching sensible spots here, haha. The deficiency in the recreation of that small piece of antique level is hard to excuse.

So it's fair to assume that you can't understand why the fuss, because you are unable to empathize with the people here and their concerns.

I think you have a misconception of what autism is.

You're the one who doesn't understand what autism is. Obsessing over small details and being unable to accept change to one's routine, are two of the classic signs of it.

I wasn't denying that, but is a bit more complicated than spotting a synthom and comparing it to autism. What is happening here is more comparable to normal people behavior than with someone with a mental condition.

I accept change just fine, in fact I'm excited about Doom's normal campaign. Here's the thing, chief, this wasn't MEANT to be change, it was meant to be a copy of the Classic Doom and this isn't small changes, they're huge changes that fundamentally change the structure itself, especially lighting in my opinion. If you took Doom 64 and replaced the ambiance with heavy metal guitar strums, would it not be completely different? You have to set up the right mood, the right atmosphere, and they clearly botched the Classic Doom atmosphere with this lazy attempt to copy paste it.

This is the real problem, that you see a lack of effort put into it, which makes it look like a really mediocre copy. I don't like mediocrity and I don't like when other people try to justify mediocrity either, that's just a nasty downgrade in quality as if good quality was meant to be a bad thing, if you justify these poor executions you are just spoiling developers and designers, justifying low quality and mocking what is superior is only going to lead to your own stagnation in different levels.

They're trying so hard to make us happy that I almost feel bad about saying anything negative about Doom 4, especially over something as petty as an Easter egg. But really, they should have just thrown a few corridors together and called it a day. They have snapmap, right?

The rest of the singleplayer campaign looks rock fucking solid, I am excited for it.
Snapmap looks good too, will be a fun distraction to go back to long after Doom releases for a quick survival map or two.

The Fulbright kind of ruins the whole atmosphere of the original design. And I would like to edit that one good reason is because the lighting as you may be able to tell help tide some of the original doom inperfections if you want to call them that. So much so that I always hated picking up the light amplification goggles .

Even if it wasn't real-time lighting, it helped Doom feel more alive than it would otherwise, especially when the lights cut out suddenly or blink and pulsate.

Not to mention it sort of just looks weird in a bad way compared to the area you are in (that has various lighting/shadows) with the entrance just standing out quite a bit. I can only imagine how the mood of the area near the easter egg entrance is in would be if it had the same issue of just being fully bright without any shadows or the like.
