It looks unfinished and amateur.

The rest of the game looks great and polished, that easter egg looks last minute.

I hope the actual unlocked full levels have lighting because the full brightness really detracts from the level structure, in my opinion. If they're just going to slap on old Doom design without any enhancements or modifications, at least bother to make it look accurate.

It's still part of a commercial product and, thus, open to criticism. It shows a lack of effort on their part, in my opinion, like a Classic Doom easter-egg is just an afterthought, something they don't care enough to actually do well. When you can get something like this from a modder absolutely free:



When time and care are taken to tweak the original design to be more modern and believable without sacrificing the actual design on a free mod and a commercial company is just copying and pasting walls and flats without any changes, I at least expect faithfulness to the original. The fully bright environments really do detract from those levels in my opinion, considering part of the drive of Doom back in the day was being able to have moody darkly lit environments, something Wolf 3D couldn't. The whole point of the copy and paste Classic Doom levels is to enjoy the original design and having such glaring visual errors makes that slightly difficult. That's just my opinion.

Is there a full video of the Foundry level? I really liked it when they showed it at E3 but that only seems to be a portion of a much larger video.

I just hope and wish that they include the entire original Doom remade within Doom 2016.... and you can play through all the levels of the original Doom in Doom 2016... that'd be a nice homage IMHO. Forget about Doom 2. It's all about the original! =3

No offense Doom 2 fans, maybe when DOOM 2 comes out you'll get your remade levels! ;)

It was probably way down on the to-do list, likely inspired by Machine Game's thingy in Wolfenstein TNO and Old Blood.

I wouldn't be surprised if some level designer threw these together in secret, and the only reason they're even in the game is they were already all done by the time they were presented/discovered. It has that kind of hasty feel to it.

God damn did they fuck that up bad.
How can they mess up texture scale so bad, let alone putting it on upside down?
And where the fuck did that light texture even come from? Is the original one just lost in time somehow?

Doesn't Doom Builder allow you to literally take a Doom wad and spit out an obj? They could have taken seconds and produced something better than what we've got.
