Revenant Jetpack malfunction animation removed from Doom 2016 since E3 Demo?

It seems to me that they might have just replaced the heywire jetpack with the whole "disabled jetpack" mechanic instead. If you notice, when they disable the jetpack in the recent gameplay footage, it's almost the same animation in the beginning as the original E3 footage. This could just be for gameplay reasons. Like, maybe they felt this would make fights more dynamic? I wish we could have both, to be honest. What they could have done, for example, is have a small chance of the malfunctioning jetpack death animation to happen instead of just disabling it.

I guess, you know, it could still be like this and the chance of it happening is so low that we just never had a chance to see it during any of the recent gameplay streams.

Instead of worring about some death animations...you'd better talk about the total absence of homing missiles wich were always revenant's feature and that's why he was dangerous! Now he isn't....in fact he is pathetic.
BTW! Yes the death animation is still there!

Yeah....but classic doom and doom 3 are on consoles and there was no problems with revenants homing rockets there...but now for some fucking retarted reason they decided to remove it.

Who says they removed it? Other than you of course. Did you program the Revenant? Can you tell us with an absolute certainty what it can and can't do? If there's no homing rockets, what do the laser-sights do? Does it even need them? Perhaps its missiles work differently from the start and homing would have been redundant.

These questions and more you could not possibly answer without jumping to baseless conclusions to compensate for you salt.

I thought that here we were, together as a community, looking at something that was cool from E3 and seeing whether that was still in the game.

Sharing links and videos with timestamps and in general having fun together and actually figuring out that it is, most probably, still in the game. (yay)

Maybe just leave it at that and stop with this dismissive bullcrap.

Can still be? IT IS REVENANT we are talking about. IT MUST be dangerous! The whole idea of that enemie is to create hard to avoid missiles....that is the point! I can understand they didn't make arch vile ressurect bodies from a tech point. But to make a fucking homing missile is a problem? NO!

Show me where? I watched both streams several times! No homing rockets detected at all!

Look at both streams carefully and tell me where revenant make any singnificant hit with a missle? Most of the time it just flyes by cos it is easy to strafe. I don't know what lasers do, but it sure as hell do not create any type of hard to avoid missile attack.

Really not that difficult. It's just a rag doll being spun around at a somewhat random speed and direction then launched after a certain amount of time, when it collides with the world he blows up.

Imagine picking an object up with a gravity gun and in HL2, jerk it around and then quickly flick the mouse and let go, similar effect.

I love how the Revenant has to have the homing missiles to be 'challenging', despite the fact that most people I know call their homing rockets (and their unpredictability in when they'll be fired) to be absolute bullshit.

A stream of vertical-slice flyby gameplay footage hardly counts as an answer, especially when the player is constantly trying to stay out of sight/range and dispatching them quickly.

See that's the magic of video, I can watch it 20 times and it's still going to be the same video. The Revenant will always do the same thing, and thus cannot be interacted with and properly analyzed. Which means all you can do is assume.

Cos I don't want to start another topic....and I don't shit on this topic. WE already figured out that the E3 death animation is THERE! I just wanted to add another valid issue realted to revenant and instead I was atacked by some of doom community. Real fan community would've have been disscussing this issue already, but NO NO NO don't fucking dare to find any flaws in our beloved game!

You also don't seem to understand the difference between discussing flaws and saying "this thing is the next hitler because I didn't see it do this one incidental task" without thinking that either the footage doesn't demonstrate it or is even relevant to its new design. You just want something to yell it because if you're not having fun, nobody else is allowed to either. Your precious Radiant map editor that you're not receiving day 0 must be avenged!

You believe that if you wrote it down like for example this:

"Does anyone else notice he does not fire homing missiles anymore? I kind of miss that because I feel its a defining feature of our beloved revenant. I am also worried that, with the current scatter fire, he is a bit on the easy side. What do you think?"

Instead of:

The outcome would have been the exact same? You really think this is something that you did not cause? Are you honestly that deluded?

I do not hold the community here in high regard when it comes to being open to criticism. But it has nothing to do with what is happening in this thread.
