I love classic don't get me wrong but today I would side with Marty/Hugo over the legendary Carmack.

The old DOOM's were made in 1993 LOL.

You can't compare. Totally different hardware and player base. IMO, the new Doom has all the elements of classic Doom judging from reviews and watching gameplay but with better graphics.
