Reccommended difficuilty

I always played the old doom on UV as there was the most enemies in terms of numbers.

In modern shooters higher difficuily normally just means enemies dealing out more damage.

Does anyone know how the difficuilty works in Doom 4?

HMP is too easy. You should play it on UV! It's pretty challenging in the later levels. The NIGHTMARE level is nearly impossible. Tried it yesterday.

Do enemy numbers increase with difficuulty or is it just damage inflicted by them buffed?

The fight against the Talisman Guards truly is Soulsborne like. I died a couple of times because I couldn't get my timing right for jumping over the three balls thy shoot. After couple of deaths, I got the timing, but still found the fight quite a challenge (same as Cyberdemon, who I got on first try, but it was damn close, like 10 HP left or so close).

Can't wait for Spider :)

Do enemy numbers increase? :D In later levels you will be fighting like 25 or more enemies per encounter. It's pretty hard to count the numbers of enemies :)

Oh you will be pleased with the Spider :) And the way you finish him off is truely something spectacular ;)
