antiriad Posted May 19, 2016 Plasma Gun said:Great system! Thank you! Today this system costs around 700€ here in Europe, buying all brand new from Amazon, equipped with a GTX 960 4GB and 8GB of RAM. It could be even cheaper if not interested in mini-ITX size. IMHO a GTX 960 can run DOOM flawlessly in 1080p at high or even ultra settings, with the help of Vulkan and some custom settings. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DoomPhreak Posted May 19, 2016 I have a 5-year-old PC and a 6-year-old video card, but I can run the game at medium settings at 1920x1080 with 30-40fps, which allows me to enjoy the game. My setup is i5-750 2.66GHz, 12GB RAM, and a GTX 480 video card that only has 1568MB VRAM. Nothing is OC'ed. At higher than medium settings, the frame rate drops to 5 fps, apparently due to the lack of VRAM. But at medium, I get 30-40fps. Turn up sharpening to 2 to 2.5 and the graphics looks pretty good. I consider this a success since the official minimum requirements say I can't even run the game. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
SYS Posted May 20, 2016 Been ok with the 670 so far. Running an OC with full cover waterblock mind ya. Cpu-wise i7 3930K OC'd at 4.0ghz, 32gb DDR3. It was really running like shit at first and then I realized no SLI support so I turned it off. Supposed to be coming out eventually. If you're running below a 670: Turning down virtual texturing page size, anti aliasing off, keeping motion blur on but at low quality will help your frame rate. Motion Blur is a big part of the secret sauce in maintaining frame rates in the console ports. Those are things you can tweak, aside from just turning everything to the lowest possible settings and slowly enabling and scaling to see how much a hit you take. It's not like the AMD chips the X-Bone and PS4 are using are any better than alot of these mid range and older desktop gfx cards. They're just optimized to the tits from the get-go. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
