Trouble joining a TDM game

I can join any other mode in a matter of seconds, but when I want to play TDM it takes forever to join a game. Has something gone awry, or is it just an underpopulated mode?

Also - and it's a minor point - but whenever I finally get into a TDM game, one of the maps that were in the beta always come first. I guess that's just how the map rotation works.

EDIT: I should mention that I'm on the PC, heh.
