Prowler demon sucks

Recommended Posts

So I finally unlocked the prowler demon. It sucks. It's the only demon that doesn't have a ranged attack and hitting anything with it's leep attack can be hard. It's borderline useless :/

I wouldn't call him useless. I've played against people who dominate with him. He's just harder to master than the Revenant. Honestly I think for the open beta, they should have used non ranged demons, to make them feel more balanced, because the Rev is the easiest demon to use IMO.

I wouldn't say it sucks, to be honest. Of course it is a glass cannon, and with the right hack module, you are aware of him. Then again, if the distance is close, there is very little chance to escape his attack, which is an instant kill.

I only played him a couple of times, but managed to get quite some kills with him, and I have also been on the receiving end of a Prowler I haven't seen too many times.

I think the demons don't "rank" in regard of order in which you unlock them. There are maps in which the Prowler shines, and there are maps in which the Baron shines, and there are maps in which the Mancubus shines.

I like how they nerfed the demons to the part where it takes skill to use them correctly, and also planning on which demon to use regarding to the map.

A skilled Prowler player is able to not beeing killed during his whole time of demon possession, while racking up the kills. He just never gets greedy.

Damn this beast owns. Flying half way across a map to hit a player. I had quite a few awesome kill streaks with this bad boy

The Prowler is very situational and if used correctly, very deadly. I played my share of AvP games, so moving like an Alien became very natural for me. You can pounce in all angles of the room dodging very effectively, you just need to be fast and aware where you're pouncing into.

It has 3 major weaknesses:
1. Lack of Health, a direct BFG could be an instant death
2. Slow running speed so you can't afford to miss many pounces
3. vulnerability when pouncing an enemy, giving enemies several seconds to shoot your back

But it has 3 great strengths:
1. Instant kills and great camping ability with all enemies revealed
2. Capable of traveling to any wall, roof and floor in great speed
3. Able to hide to avoid death, denying the enemy of using the Demon Rune

So when playing this guy the number one rule is not to attack more than one player at a time. Always go for the lone guy. Spend as much time as you need to assure this (maybe until the last few seconds). It can mean you miss out on early kills as players tend to group up at first, but they quickly become complacent and spread out.

If you want to attack Duos you definitely should wait until an ally initiates combat with them so they become distracted. Also you just cautiously pouncing everywhere (fast) can put them in a panic and off their game, allowing your allies to kill them easier. If you play it safe, the only major risk is the lack of kills. But taking the Demon Rune as soon as it spawns should give you more than enough time to get various victims. Sometimes I fail hard with Prowler and sometimes I get 9 kills without dying in one full go.

What I don't understand is that why isn't this demon in campaign? Or even in the snapmap modes?

We already have a Specter and his pouncing disable will slow the game down, causing only anger at its addition to the SP.

Unless it was turned into a more of a swipe/claw then getaway type demon that does hit and run tactics (by pouncing at range but landing near the player to melee them before making a getaway out of the players line of sight).

Lol, It's actually quite useful. If you played as the hunter in l 4 d amd is actually good at it then you'll have no trouble at all.

To me the Prowler is the most fun. That leap is just too addictive. If you're smart, you can get quite a few kills before you die or time out.
