Gibbing monsters nets the same amount of prizes as wanking them. The game gives you infinite grenades, and most the guns have an explosive attachment or charge attack. Git gud.

You might want to check out snapmap I saw some people who apparently don't like glory kills either. This is because they set the point reward them out at zero. Either way I guarantee no matter how much you hate gk id is not going to go back and change the whole campaign. You can make monsters drop and assign points how you want in snapmap.

I agree witch creator of topic but its to late to complain we can't change it. We can't even switch off glory kill highlight in mp and snapmap i tested it my self.
There was propably some lack of comunication betwen the teams working on the diffrent part of DOOM.

I do have to admit that when I played on easy the "press thumbstick to glory kill" "press thumbstick to pry open door" "press thumbstick to initiate cutscene" stuff did start to wear on me in such a way that the game felt like it was playing itself and I was just watching. Ive seen too many other games adapt to that same template of pressing the designated "action" button to do anything that's too specific to perform with a controller but I still stand that I feel more games should allow you to do more fun stuff by pressing a combination of buttons like in Tony hawk pro skater or street fighter, so doing interesting stuff is more of an acquired skill than just pressing the same button once because it has worked in the past.

However I think the gameplay alone makes up for it. The monsters are fast and dangerous and unpredictable, the guns are powerful and you have to be acrobatic to keep from taking damage. After I got to the fourth level or so I had plenty ammunition and learned exactly how I'm supposed to be dealing with these monsters, I started to accumulate more ammo and learn how to avoid damage. I dont think there is anything particularly game breaking about not doing glory kills and there is definitely no loss of "run and gun" in the game assuming you're willing to switch weapons often.

The game was tougher in the beginning though because you don't get many weapons to choose from and your ammo carrying capacity is dangerously small. 20 shells? That's it?? It gets much more manageable later.

thats the problem that people hope too much before release and then swallow it. next installment wont be better.

You can DISABLE all that! Sheesh!

All right Caine. Why did Doom get such high ratings?
Well one- the fluidity.

The GK are made in such a way that it doesn't disturb you in combat. Less than 1.5 seconds. MAX. And the varying forms too. You can still run and gun with peace.

The GK mechanic definitely disturbs the combant in my opinion, those 1.5 sec or so for each demon interupts your gameplay and adds up in the long run.

The aspect I dislike the most is that you completely lose control of the character during that time and can't continue your movement. That goes for all the scripted actions as well, like picking up things, opening doors, using the chainsaw and so on. Many of those aren't necessary and are just in the way.

Even if you disable the GK highlight and avoid using the melee button, you disable melee attack which could be something you'd like to do, even to stunned enemies. The game is heavily centered around GK and avoiding them you're not really playing the game as it was intended, and it shows.

Then I find the way they've done the stunned animation to be really out of place for creatures supposedly spawned in Hell, they look like something out of a slapstick comedy act were someone was hit in the head with a frying pan.
