Haven't listened to many, but I really like Hangarmageddon from The Dark Side of Phobos and the tracks from the Classic Doom mod for Doom 3 are great, especially the heavy rendition of Sign of Evil.

I'm also quite partial to the original SC-55 recordings. ;)

From what I've heard, the 3DO versions are by far the best. Like they actually sound very good and unique, and don't feel like midis played with a different soundfont with some effects added.

I totally agree, of the original Doom tunes, the 3DO versions stand out by far.

They were tunes based on Bobby Prince's work, but they were done by someone else. I can't recall at the moment.

From the commercial games my favorite is the Sycraft version of TNT's d_dead. Interestingly, this is a song I could never tolerate when played back via Doom.exe's OPL because that rendition hurt my ears - no idea what it did wrong...
