Someone made an E1M1 remake in Snapmap

It isn't supposed to look "good" the original e1m1 didn't look that good either, But it shows that you can do more than just randomly placing prefabs .

I was under the impression that SnapMap consisted of premade rooms only. Is that not the case? Do rooms come completely empty and you can add whatever parts you want to decorate it? (stairs, pillars, etc)

Also, is there a video of that second rendition of E1M1 anywhere?

Quite an impressive effort. If they would give outdoor prefabs, maybe this person could have made it look completely like the original, seems kind of stupid in my opinion for id to not only restrict you to prefabs but restrict you to indoor base prefabs.

I think we'll see some more substantial updates as time goes on. I can see outdoor/hell aesthetic themes being toggleable with the flick of a switch; transforming your level from military base to hellish cave with equivalent prefabs (stone steps instead of metal, rock pillars instead of posts, etc) a la Timesplitters 2's map builder.

Yeah I am not criticising the author. I am just baffled how restrictive SnapMap is.

It did look impressive in 1993 in comparison to the orthogonal indoor rooms of Wolfenstein 3D.

If I remember right by the credits they outsourced SnapMap, so hopefully id will update it and actually add more cool shit to it. Hell, maybe community made pre-fabs and stuff.

I play on console, but in all honesty when people say they consolize it I don't feel that's the case. You could probably mod an XBox or PS4 controller to run doom builder and make way more intricate stuff than what Snapmap has to offer at the moment, or maybe they consolized it so hard that even console people would say it's consolized.

They mean the limit percentages. They're only there for consoles.
