The demo version of Doom 2016 will be available for the next week

I suspect one of the reasons as to why demos are said to be decreasing sales is because they tend to be quickly slapped together and do a very poor job at convincing players to buy the game. That being said, I do not think it is the case here: the opening level is fine, there is plenty of baddies to fight and you get to experiment a bit with the gameplay mechanics. As far as demos go, it certainly is not the worst.

Although I agree this was probably done for the wrong reasons, it is not what discouraged me from buying Doom 2016.

Although easily butthurt fanboys like you who cannot tolerate a 7.1 score from a review website they already dislike or even just someone not sharing your enthusiasm do make me think less of the game, ironically enough. ;)

IGN yeah... gives every CoD ~ 9/10, but the Doom multiplayer is bad although it's almost the same lmao - shat on Alien Isolation because they were too dumb for the game :D

I am a fan of the first-person shooter genre, yes. It just so happened the last games I was willing to pay full price for were Blizzard games.

As for which shooters are worth $60 in my book, none that I can be done with in less than a couple days, that is for sure. So off the top of my head, I would say Overwatch, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Dishonored 2. Heck, if Id intends to support and regularly update Quake Champions with content for at least half a decade, then I think it would also be well worth the investment - especially if it gets big in eSports.

Thanks for the info! Installed the demo today and to my surprise it runs fine on my AMD FX-6300! Yay!

Is there a way to enable English language settings via Steam? The German translation and dubbing is terrible, it has translation errors and Hayden sounds like a harmless toy robot.
Edit: nevermind, found the Steam language settings and will replay the demo.

the second level is very different from the first one. i do admit, it probably would've made more sense to have the demo start on a level like this one, but eh. the collector's edition statue is pretty rad, i'm fine with it.
