Whoah, well, what do you know, the most inane of predictions regarding the outcome of this thread actually became true.

Also, hey Mark, I don't particularly care if to you this feels like yet another hate/vent comment since you probably already get as many of those as is, so I'll just shrug it off and outright go with the following, regardless of your reaction, simply because I know you're still going to read it:

You could have pretty much not said anything and we'd have undergone the next days rewatching the video of you playing badly and you and your fanbase being stupid from the fence, but no, you just had to go and cross it so we can all collectively laugh in your face.

at first I didn't want to believe you were this dumb and predictable from the mouths of others as I pretty much didn't know your behavior firsthand, but I completely forgot about the """""e-celeb""""" hugbox factor it seems. Turns out you are a pretty stubborn, naive person. You taking the 'SS3 taking inspiration from BD' as serious is the icing on the hypothetical cake.

Just wanted to put this out there before this gets wiped outta here.

I'm not a brutal doom player but I have to admit there is a pretty obvious fraction of inspiration taken from brutal doom in doom 2016. If any of you had created brutal doom (or rather any mod that became so popular that a commercial remake of doom was obviously riding on the coattails of your mods success) would any of you be able to keep your mouths shut about it?

It's not a 1:1 conversion but there is definitely some influence in there and I personally think its pretty awesome.

Skewed comparison. Even given the situation in the description (this being your "first time" playing), you were playing Classic DOOM at a faster pace than DOOM 2016 not because you were forced to, but because you chose to. For example, in DOOM 2016 you didn't have to stand at the cliff-top pew-pewing away at zombies at 0:20, but you chose to. You could theoretically play Classic DOOM the same way, plinking away at Former Humans/Sergeants and Imps with the pistol from a safe distance. It wouldn't be as exciting to watch, but it would still be effective (yes, even with the risk of respawning enemies).

And why would you perform this comparison if it was your first time playing DOOM 2016 (versus your years and years of experience with Classic DOOM)? That alone makes it an incredibly stupid and damned near worthless comparison, to put it bluntly.

Am I saying DOOM 2016 is as tough as the original game on Nightmare difficulty? Not necessarily. But it certainly isn't this easy-going, lackadaisical experience this video makes it out to be, either.

I know. That is why people like him have started working on Classic Doom mods that aim at replicating Doom 2016 so that people like me do not need to waste $60 on a mediocre triple-AAA first-person shooter. ;)

Let's not get hasty. SS3 is one of my favourite shooters. A shining success of a retro shooter with modern features (yet not too many) that DNF's dismal failure could never aspire to. DOOM 2016 joins it in the annals of rebooted games done right.

TBH, I haven't watched the video, but I have watched IGN's comparison video... it made classic Doom seem "barely gory"...

SergeantMarkIV, your mod MAY have given the small push on a Doom game with actual realtime gore, but id Software took to the next level and made it balanced with the whole game of Doom 2016.

Anyways, yeah. DOOM 2016 is NOTHING like Brutal DOOM. While I like the new version of the mod, I can safely admit that I'm not a big fan of Mark or his work.
