ReX Posted December 20, 2023 Ha! What are the chances? The most recent movie that I, too, watched was "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget". 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted December 20, 2023 I remember liking the first one. How is the sequel? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

LadyMistDragon Posted December 21, 2023 The Locksmith (2022) Ok, but Ryan Phlippe's character was kind of dumb. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted December 22, 2023 Trainspotting, starring Ewan McGregor. Now, I see where the comedic geniuses behind Auralnauts got their inspiration for their hilarious Star Wars redub. XD 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Plus I am always happy to hear the Scottish accent in all its glory! I was surprised to see Jonny Lee Miller in there, though, as he is not Scottish, unlike his co-leads. EDIT: So apparently, there is also a sequel by the name of "T2"... Questionable title aside, it was alright. Edited December 22, 2023 by Rudolph 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

It was the heroin addiction element of the story that depressed me. Layer Cake is an exciting British crime drama with Daniel Craig (before he was cast as "Bond, James Bond"), Colm Meaney (he, of Miles O'Brien fame in Star Trek: TNG & Star Trek: DS9), and Michael Gambon (Prof. Dumblydore in the later Harry Potter movies). 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Rudolph Posted December 23, 2023 (edited) Spoiler In a way, I prefer T2: Trainspotting because it leaves the four protagonists - well, not so much for Begbie, but what can you expect from someone as violently unhinged - in a relatively better place, unlike in the first movie where Renton just abandons them and run with the money. I guess I am a bit of a sucker for stories where messy people get to sit down and reflect on their lives. Also, the movie is worth it just for the "NO MORE CATHOLICS" scene. ReX Posted December 26, 2023 Maestro: A somewhat dark movie about Leonard Bernstein, a musical virtuoso of the 20th century. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues: A stupid but funny movie that continues the exploits of Ron Burgundy. [For me, the highlight was the myriad cameos of well-known comedians at the end.] 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

We tried to watch it, my parents and I, but we gave up only a half-hour in. Knowing about Bradley Cooper's fake nose proved to be quite distracting and it did not help that none of us were familiar with Leonard Bernstein and his work either. MrFroz Posted December 27, 2023 V/H/S/85. I liked it better than the entry from last year, V/H/S/99, with a more interesting wraparound segment and overall more consistency in terms of quality. I also found a bunch of scenes genuinely unsettling and scary in places. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted December 27, 2023 A movie with a number of names but among them...."Christmas Twister" God, it was awful. Melodramatic acting, stupid script, unlikeable characters, the laziest excuse for CGI, strangely overwrought and tame tornado at the same time. The best you can say is that they weren't trying to be bad, a la Sharknado as much as some people wanted to make a quick buck from a made-for TV movie. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Billy Baron Posted December 28, 2023 I rewatched The People Under The Stairs (Wes Craven). I don't remember this movie having a positive message, but it actually did. I watched it a long time ago before I even went to college. School taught this powerful message, and that it has a great meaning, kind of Robin Hoodesque - to rob from the rich, give to the poor. I remember it as a creepy good time, and that's just what it is. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Saw Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget myself last night. It was alright; pretty formulaic, but I did not mind. The whole premise reminded me of Oddworld, namely Exoddus, which was an amusing coincidence. Spoiler My only disappointment was the villain's ultimate fate: when Melisha fell into the grinder, I was expecting her to get ground (offscreen) into nuggets and then served to an oblivious Reginald Smith who would have proceeded to eat one of them with his patented blood-red dip. Oh well. I was also surprised to be reminded that Rocky used to be voiced by Mel Gibson. At first, I figured that they did not bring him back because of how much of a PR nightmare he has become, but then it turned out that his replacement, Zachary Levi, is also a bit of a nutjob. MrFroz Posted December 31, 2023 I have rewatched Alien, Aliens and Alien: Resurrection. Just finished watching Alien: Resurrection in fact, and I gotta say I liked it a lot less than the first time around in 2015. It can be entertaining at times but I found the acting to be too hammy in places and overall the dark comedy approach for certain situations is ill-suited. Skipped Alien 3 because I didn't like it much the first time but I might watch it once again and perhaps end up liking it more than Resurrection, at least. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Planky Posted December 31, 2023 I tried to watch Operation Fortune, got half way through and turned it off. Primes offering is incredibly lacklustre. Fortunately I only have it due to a free trial so it hasn't cost me anything other than time. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Make sure to watch the Assembly Cut from the Special Edition release. Some of the restored scenes look and sound rough, but they help fleshing out some of the characters and improve the story. CyberDreams Posted January 1 I haven't been watching any movies lately (sorry to the topic) but i have been watching a TON of classic Doctor Who on Tubi, a free app that just has ads every once in a while but doesn't edit anything. I've never watched it before, since i live in the USA (it's not as popular here) but i love it now. Unfortunately some early episodes are missing since the BBC taped over shows back in the 60's. They do have some animated versions of the episodes that were animated way later though (2010's) so that's good. I really like it!! I'm a huge fan of the Twilight Zone and Star Trek and this fits right in with that genre. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Lippeth Posted January 2 Got an absolute overdose of the 80s with Mannequin and Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo. I was feeling a bit down being alone again on New Year's Eve/Day and after a depressing trip to a bowling alley where I walked in and right back out, I ordered a pizza and found these two gems that I haven't seen since I was a very little kid, but they cheered me right up! 3 Quote Share this post Link to post
LadyMistDragon Posted January 3 The Long Kiss Goodnight(1996), starring Geena "Future Action Star?" Davis and Samuel L. "It'll Get You Drunk!" Jackson. It's not without its convenient concidences but it was pretty entertaining! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
