You should wait for the NV30/NV35 cards. They should be able to beat 9700 with quite a bit, afaik :)

My birthday is in march.. around the doom 3 release I hope..
and then they have already launched the sledgehammer chipset from AMD and the NV35 and then I am getting a 24" monitor or even bigger and a soundcard that supports dolby 5.1. I already have a broadband connection, so no worries in the multiplayer option, and a Razer Boomslang mouse.. for optimal precision fragging *shiny*

No, The NV30 has been pushed back abit, due to delays and such. Rumour has it, that it won't turn up till around january next year. The NV35 will be around shortly after doom. I'll be very suprised if I see the NV30 this year.

Plus, for some people, they don't want to wait any longer for a new card. So as soon as I can grab a 9700, guess what, I'm grabbing it as FAST AS I CAN. I will admit that there are people with worse cards than me though, so I shouldn't complain about my GeForce2. BUT I WILL! ;)
