cybermind Posted August 31, 2016 idgames template file structure haven't been changed since early 1994 releases. Does somebody know who was the author of this format and where it was first used? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Linguica Posted August 31, 2016 From some quick research I found https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/alt.games.doom/wad$20authoring$20template%7Csort:relevance/alt.games.doom/S864K3uVYdY/cQgL_YYyMhIJ from April 1994 which looks like it was created by Steve Bareman, who was involved with the creation of the DEU editor. The WAD Authoring Template is meant to be a tool for describing your wad file creations when you post them on the net. This should help provide information to users of your wad and hopefully save you a few questions. WAD_AUTH.TXT should be included with DEU5.1 (sometime within the next week) but I thought I'd post it up here now since there are so many wads out there. (Thank you! To the author of DAEMON2.WAD, I got many ideas from the .TXT you included. Good Job!) Any and All editor creators are welcome to include WAD_AUTH.TXT along with their distributions. If I left anything VERY important out of WAD_AUTH V1.0 please let me know and I'll fix it up for the next version. -Steve Bareman bar...@hope.cit.hope.edu v1.1 came a few days later, and v1.2 a few weeks after that. Another guy named Steve created an edited v2.0 in December 1994 which (largely) became standard. And here's the DAEMON2.TXT he mentions as inspiration. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
