I Challenge all Doom Players

I challenge all Doom players to try to finish E1M1 on I'm Too Young To Die as quickly as possible in 2 control modes

Classic(Keyboard only)
Modern(Keyboard and Mouse)

I intend to do a comparison video of my times in both control modes(i will link the video once i have made and posted it)


Here is the classic controls
Move Forward = Up Arrow
Move Backwards = Down Arrow
Turn Left = Left Arrow
Turn Right = Right Arrow
Use Door/Action Key = Space
Fire = Control


Here is the Modern Controls
Move Forward = W
Move Backwards = S
Strafe Left = A
Strafe Right = D
Use Door/Action Key = Right Mouse Button
Fire = Left Mouse Button

If you want the ultimate challenge change the difficulty to Nightmare and see how long it takes you to complete E1M1 with both control modes.

Keyboard+mouse is as "classic" as it gets. It was recommended from the start and widely used when the game was new. Hell, it was even the default (i.e. what the game used if you had not run setup.exe and there was no default.cfg).

the idea is to finish the level 100% in the quickest possible time on each control modes

Well that's not happening for me for 2 reasons
1-medkits (I'll rarely get hit, so I won't get 100% items. Maybe by using the acid pools)
2-secret (I still haven't figured out how to get to that secret with the lift)

Which lift are you talking about? The one that lead to a small tunnel in the wall of the zigzag bridge room or the lift that lowers, making the Imps free to roam around?

That's funny, as I finished Doom 2 on Dosbox on ITYTD. That was my only legit play through though.

Scythe MAP30 on UV is a piece of cake compared to E1M1 on ITYTD, no way I'm participating!
