DOOMWORLD MEGA PROJECT 2016

DESCRIPTION
Another year, another mega project. Your goal is to make a map before December 31, 2016. Nobody will be rejected. If your map can be exited, it'll be accepted (no troll maps).

Previous projects: DMP2015, DMP2014, DMP2013, DMP2012.

RULES
= One single player map per person for Doom 2.
= Any map format (vanilla, boom, g/zdoom, etc.)
= NO new textures/flats/sprites EXCEPT these liquid falls textures from cc4-tex: cc4falls.zip. WFALL is waterfall, BLODGR is lavafall, SLADRIP is mudfall.
= DECORATE content IS allowed, only if no stock content is replaced and only if stock content is used (no new sprites/sounds).
= Music must be less than 1MB in size. No mp3/ogg music allowed (without permission).
= Custom skies ARE allowed as long as you don't replace RSKY1. That means for zdoom compat maps you can use MAPINFO, and for boom compat maps you can use the sky transfer line action 271 (here's a sky transfer prefab to paste into your map: skytransferprefab.wad). Vanilla and limit-removing maps don't get a custom sky.
= DON'T use map07 or map30 slots and don't use secret exit line actions.
= When your map is done, upload it to dropbox or something similar and post it in this thread with all relevant information about your map that will be added to the final text file (such as compatibility, description, credits, build time, etc.)

DEADLINE
= Submissions will be accepted until December 31, 2016. This is a strict deadline. In January I will compile the wad and release it to /idgames. After you post your wad in the thread, people will playtest it and it's up to you to update it or not. If your map can be exited, I will consider it final after December 31.

I'm participating. I have a map in the works that I intend to finish in several days. It will have COMPBLUE waterfalls since we can't use new textures and because I think they are funny. I guess I could change water to blood or slime but I want a more earthly feel. Here is what I have so far: http://i.imgur.com/d1pJvzU.png

Why don't you just change it to blood or nukage? Even lava could work.

I was planning to make a stock-texture-only space base map for the next DMP anyway, so sign me up.

By the way, the links to previous DMPs in the OP don't work. The thread ID numbers need to be followed by something, anything, even just a "-" sign, to work properly.

I would like to participate.
My only concern is I've never been part of a project like this before, I've made maps before, but never part of a community effort.

EDIT: nevermind I just re-read it and saw the deadline.

Do we have to claim stakes on a particular map level?
Or do we just make it as Map01 and then get put wherever there's a spot to fill?

greentiger - yeah you can make any kind of map you want that follows the rules and I'll figure out the maplist later.

Ok, I'll try and get something out. Don't know if I'll manage cause of 2 ongoing projects of my own, with one being a previous 2015 submision that I had to take out of the project due to me missing the deadline and reading the rules of this one, I don't tink I will be able to add it to this one either (custom textures, monsters, sounds, etc...) without drastically changing it.

So yeah, count me in for now cause well, I guess I like to challenge myself lol

I think it's a reasonable exception to allow WFALL. It's probably the most popular texture that isn't in doom2.wad. But by Final Doom do you mean TNT or Plutonia? Not sure if you ever noticed, but they are actually different: the TNT one is brighter, which makes it look better to my eyes.

I'm pretty sure he means the one in Plutonia, because the one in TNT is baked into another texture and the patches have different names, which (slightly) complicates adding it to one's wad. That said, I personally don't like either Plutonia or TNT waterfalls (Plutonia = too blurred, TNT = too bright), but I prefer the ones from cc4-tex (which have just the right contrast and shade to match Doom's standard water, IMO).

Could we also include a lavafall, perhaps? Can't see why water would get a fix and not the sexier and hotter stuff.
