Post your Doom textures!

A new animated flesh texture I edited from a Shadow Caster(by Raven Software) texture.

It repeats horizontally just fine, but beyond the 128 height, there's going to be a visible border.
Free to use if appropriate credit is given.

And now we have a set of key doors or indicators. Maybe even big switches.

I knew I recognized that texture from somewhere, it's used in Deus Vult as a switch

Neat, I thought it could make a nice switch. I found a flat in another texture set made out of this texture, I'll see how well 64 pixel version recolors.

Wow. Didn't remember that. Haven't played it in years.

 

But since there's now a secondary frame for the red, here's secondary frames for the others. Works as switches or just as pulsing animated textures.

Isn't this also used in UAC Ultra, but as a flat tex?

Might be. I haven't compared them yet, but I think this is the one that has both green and pink-ish roundel flat.

Very nice work, both of you. Kind of a clean Quake. But you missed one. If you didn't actually make it, here. I cobbled it together out of the ones you posted. Also made a running wall out of one of them.

Was about to ask to reaupload it on MediaFire since I can't download from Mail.sru, but if it's everything that was in archive and it wasn't converted to Doom format, then, I guess, there's no need for it. Thank you, ViolentBeetle and EffinghamHuffnagel. Also, for me it looks more like something in between Chasm and Quake - not just cleaner, but also brighter. Good for making non-depressing industrial sites. Thanks, Scorpio (also, do I see a comrade here? +)).

Alternate colors, yay! I realize now I forgot a light flat and I also didn't think complex shapes are worth the effort. "Door" in particular is a little awkward and needs some work.

Red is the longest array of colors there is, blue, green etc doesn't work quite as well, but maybe I'll try it later. Remapping colors is good fun.

I couldn't sleep and figured I'll recolor them blue and green too. Not as good as red, IMO, because there's less blue and green around. There's not neraly enough yellow to make it work and orange is redundant, so this is what you get.

 

Packed them in a wad.

Not all original textures have variants, I forgot about light flat again, don't think two-segment door is actually that usable, I'll try to rework it better. And I didn't bother with radiation sign yet.

 

Update: I have removed unseemly black strip on what I called SCORP4 - now it's a proper 128 px door (I couldn't make a good divide). I won't do more variants tonight, but I'll be back with all missing pieces.

a bunch of stuff adapted from toaplan's tatsujin oh - so i suppose be sure to mention toaplan if you use them. plenty of stuff that would make for bizarre decorative structures.

This fella looks like he could make a good switch. I couldn't figure out the edges of his mouth to make it glow though, and eye alone doesn't feel enough.

This is a really cool texture, but some renderers can't handle width that isn't power of 2, so I merged two panels into 1.

Depends - on what you need. If you just want to draw, than Paint.net is enough, many professional artists use it. If you want image manipulation, than GIMP. So, if you want to create new, original Doom textures, Paint.net would be good, but if you want to change already existing ones, then you probably be better with GIMP. Or ZDoom's TEXTURES lump. Seriously, this baby can do so much that you thought only advanced image editing programs can do. Try it. You'll love it. It can create new textures without even using any additional graphics at all - and the result will be just a tiny super-light file containing all the textures you edited!

I know that feeling, GIMP scared the hell out of me at first too, but some of the best original textures for Doom that I've ever seen has been created in GIMP, so, I guess it worth it. +)
