Lutz Posted October 29, 2016 First: sorry if this is in the wrong forum. Second: I recently purchased Strife: Veteran Edition from GOG.com -- kudos to all involved. While it is still a blast to play and the new graphical bells & whistles are neat, I am having a problem in that transparent windows are completely invisible with the hi-res renderer regardless of the graphics settings. They look fine in the old software engine, but no combination of graphics settings make them appear with the hi-res one. Any thoughts? For the record, I am running this on an old machine (WinXP with an NVIDIA 7800), though it runs Doom 3/Quake 4/Half-Life 2 without issues. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Edward850 Posted October 29, 2016 SVE has a much newer renderer than the games you've listed, and thus designed for newer specifications and technology. The obvious thing here would be your graphics drivers, make sure they are up-to-date. Of course with a legacy GPU and OS there probably isn't anything left to update. (I'm a tad surprised about XP, I thought we stopped compiling compatible bytecode for it by then.) Failing that, check the effects such as lightmaps, as one of the could be affecting your drivers ability to render transparency with its older standards. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
