Most games I like are from early 2000s to early 2010s, but I never picked up a shooter until trying Cry of Fear (2011) in late 2018, mostly because I saw a comparison to it with Minecraft's caves on TVTropes.

Also, the only MMOG shooter I've ever played was CS GO and I didn't get very far in it.

I play Roblox and G-Mod shooters sometimes, but otherwise I stick mostly to either non-MMOG gun games or MMOG non-gun games. E.g. Paranoia, or, respectively, hole.io.

I've never played Slender, so now I have a new list item too lol.

What these games have in common is 2000s and early 2010s era horror half life mods converted into standalone games. I think this period was largely forgotten in gaming history, sadly, even though it boosted the rise of many gaming youtubers. I myself only got into it quite recently, just three years back.

For reference, other game categories I'm into are 2000s arcade and tower defense games, mid 2010s mobile dash games, and more recent indie horror games.

The edit button itself glitched for me somewhat and I ended up typing my response in the new post button, twice.

I suspect that editing required internet to grab the post...

Also @omalefico32x, I forgot to mention *Resident Evil: Cold Blood* on the aforementioned list. That's the one that made me interested in They Hunger (which to this day I cannot find a working standalone version of).

Ah. Editing can act up a bit sometimes. Usually I refresh the page, then edit, and that usually always works.

And yes, editing DOES require an Internet connection. I too wish it didn't, but alas. Then again, it's kind of obvious – it updates your thread remotely, not just on your computer! Probably a random record in a SQL database somewhere! What a shocker!

Another random fact: I had a gastric bypass in December of 2009. Damn near killed me. I nearly bled to death internally. It took 10 pints of blood transfused to keep me alive. It's also why I broke both my ankles and why I have the Greenfield Filter in my inferior vena cava.

It's a long story.

I registered into a translation services website, as a translator (Portuguese <-> English, both ways), as my first attempt to have any semblance of a job, but every time I log in and check, all the "jobs" (offers to translate something in exchange for money) are taken by the time I get there.

Maybe I should freelance it? Offer my translation services, perhaps?

I spent 2 summers living in a castle in the Bavarian country side as a trumpeter in the castle's court orchestra

I somehow dodged years in jail. Got charged with drug possession of a lotta different stuff in a "drug free zone" meaning all charges were enhanced. I think it was 2 class B felonies, 2 class A misdemeanors or something like that. I think all charges were dropped because the cause for searching my car was dubious.

One time when I was storm chasing I got about 1/4th a mile from a tornado that had touched down

I got the top score (5?) on the Calculus AP exam in high school without studying for it

The first time I ever tried 25i-NBOMe (1.5 mg), a potent hallucinogen, was while driving a 200+ mile road trip

👀 ahhhh that's just a couple of the more interesting moments. most of my story consists of self-isolating either behind a computer, in a practice room, hiking, doing drugs, or road tripping depending on what period of my life it is

I don't get this argument at all. The first animé I watched (as an adult) was Evangelion, just a few years ago. My brother told me that people don't recommend watching that one first since all other animé will look like trash by comparison. What the hell does that even mean? I'll watch a show because it looks interesting to me and maybe I like the artstyle (Kill la Kill being an example of this, good times).

I'm not looking for the same experience every time I try a new show. If I was then I'd be disappointed in everything, all the time, because I've seen Avatar the Last Airbender. How is it any fun to hold everything you watch to the same standards as the 'best' thing you've ever seen?

It wasn't an argument. It was a throw-away joke, the likes of which I make all the time. There are tons of great anime.

FFS I'm going to start putting disclaimers before every post I make.

I've seen enough people say that with nothing but purest sincerity, and I guess I can't tell when someone is doing it sarcastically anymore.

I recently got into RWBY. I have a very strong love/hate relationship with the FNDM...

True, I shouldn't expect most people to understand how my mind works. Basically everything I say online is rooted in the driest, most lame humor you can imagine. It's really difficult to get across sometimes.

Nausea is the big one. I have to keep Zofran medication on hand at all times for when a sudden bout of nausea strikes.

I haven't dared to play Doom at all now that I've been developing a Quake engine project. In the past when I've had a Quake engine project, then played a little Doom or made a level for Doom, suddenly I get the feeling that I want to make the project for the Doom engine instead. Then later play some Quake and switch the project back to Quake. So, the next time I can play Doom is when I've completed my current project (maybe sometime next year). Let's hope that's a good motivator.

Though I played a little bit Doom 3 when I got my new/current laptop. But Doom 3 doesn't have the same effect on me as Doom.
