Is there an option to get rid of the voice acting?

That I didn't check. I was in a hurry to play after waiting for the server que just wanted to try it out. Will absolutely check on that. Especially once I play as another champion. Ranger didn't drive me too crazy but the others already have by the trailers alone lol :)

Totally agree.  Bunnyhopping is a quintessential Quake move - not including it would be like having Doom without a BFG.

Frankly, as far as PvP goes, I'm pretty sure a lot of Doomers would be more than happy to go without the BFG.

Right, so I saw a video on YouTube put by a player who got in the beta. The video is probably not there anymore because of the NDA but I am sure more will pop up. You can check this by searching quake videos added in the last hour.

The map was Burial Grounds and visually it is a combination of Doom 2016, Classic Doom and Quake 1. It is very good looking with a strong gothic atmosphere. If they ever make another Quake 1-style Quake then I hope the levels will look like this. The music was a somber and subtle pipe organ tune. The announcer had a deep but stoic and unemotional voice. I like it!

The new loadout system was really good! Instead of choosing every weapon in the game, you get to choose between lesser versions of the shotgun, machine gun and nailgun. Good idea! I wish Doom 4 had this too. They are not too powerful which is good.

Tim was not lying when he said abilities are not essential. If you suck, they will not save you.

That's it for now.

EDIT:

Oh and the hero he played looked and sounded a lot like Olivia Pierce!

Doom is for total massacre, QC is for maximum hardcore. Doom MP is great and make better if id Software put inside more madness, about 1-2 guns on the map,

Doom must be little bit faster too - for 20-25% from now. Everything else is OK! Little rebalance and BEST MULTIPLAYER GAME EVER MADE will be ready.

I don't like old system with standing guns it works well in Quake but not best solution at all! QC feels like any other Q3 wannabe game, because structure of gameplay is almost SAME - balanced guns, item control, powerful LG and "sniper gun"(railgun) e t.c.

Great video with very, very good points.

Did you even read what I said?!

Surprisingly enough for you, I did. But I still don't like the idea. No matter how you execute it, it fucks too much with the balance, especially in an AFPS. One of the best things about AFPS (and old-school FPS) games is that everyone starts out with one or two weapons - the same weapon(s), no less. That way, everyone has an equal initial level of firepower. A loadout system throws that balance out the window, and that's not what I want to see. It was one of the main reasons I quit Quake Live for the better part of a year when it was introduced and noobs started spamming rockets out the wazoo.

Ya, I will definetly be buying the champion pack for this. I don't think this will be a violation so, I'm going to say I like it a lot.

ya, minus the part where the three loading weapons are reduced in power version of weapons on the map as said before.mini- machine gun, shotgun and mini-nail gun. Their more about playstyle then an advantage. You'll still want to book it to the nearest actual weapon spawn asap.

I was expecting Bunnyhopping to have bad impact on the Combat and field But I started to get used to it, at first I was expecting lot of people bouncing around ridiculously, turns out not many spam it, even I didn't find it that useful, except when I wanted to reach a Pickup faster.

But it's not like it was in Quake Live. All you can do is choose between three normal starting weapons. That's it. No Rocket Launchers.

Interesting perspective

I honestly think this guy is pretty condescending. He also says he's going to support id Software because "they've given me my favorite games for the past eighteen years", which I feel is kind of a naive thing to say when you consider that id Software as a company is completely different from the team of people who made games ten or even twenty years ago. By all means: if you like Doom 4 and Quake Champions when it comes out, feel free to support them for it, but your money isn't going to Carmack, Romero, or any of the other people who worked on the original Doom and Quake.

So what if the money doesn't go to them? I don't care. Besides, I'm beginning to like Hugo and Marty just as much. Plus, Tim has been there since Ultimate Doom and was responsible for Quake 3. People tend to forget that.

I explained this... Obviously that guy in the video does care where his money goes.
He said in his own words that he wanted to pay them because "they've given me my favorite games for the past eighteen years", which is factually not true and makes it seem like he's ignorant of the company's history and the people who created those games the past eighteen years. Tim Willits is the only one left who contributed anything to the old games, but he doesn't handle any of the creative work anymore. I wouldn't refer to just Tim Willits as "they".

Just try the game then. It's a lot of fun. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks about it and draw your own conclusions

How slow reloading speed is... how slow is rockets and railgun shot... - very unusually after Doom '16 MP. At least it's good Quake, but it still need spending for hundreds hours of training to understand basics of gameplay. It's not for 3 days, obviously. Player base must be better than prevous Quake games, for sure.

I disagree, strafe jumping as fairly easy, rocket jumping is a sinch. guns are easy to understand.

Apparently he hasn't been there long enough to recognize flagrant violations of long-established Quake canon!

John Romero once explained the Shambler wears some sort of "shaggy coat", does that mean it's not part of his body? I am sure most players interprete the Shambler as a killer Yeti with white fur.

Seeing as most of the monsters in Quake 1 are based on HP Lovecraft mythos, I wouldn't be surprised if it was some sort of interpretation thing where anyone has their own vision of it.

QC slow as hell in shooting compare to Doom. Netcode isn't so good as Doom's too. Mostly game looks better than UT4 or Lawbreakers, but I mostly waiting for Doom and don't care if I will be banned from upcoming beta. ^_^ At least I think it will be good game! But I only wish for final release, todays QC is too far from best.

Actually the loadout is not how you're thinking they are, it doesn't mess with the balance at all since everyone has access to the same low-tier weapons.  Not even in the same ballpark as QL's loadout fuckery.  What fucks shit up is that some champions have more hp than others.  But even still, if you've many years of Q3A experience it doesn't matter.  I went into it thinking they'd completely fuck up Quake but came out the beta thinking how much better ID could have done with Doom given how well they've created Quake Champions.  They even pulled off the wood/hellish theme in modern 3d.

It's not as fast as Q3A, maybe an inch slower. I thought it was hilarious watching noobs bitch about no headshots.

I agree it's a smidgit slower, but I think strafe jumping in champions is quite a bit easier then Q3 and QL, So it might be easier for newer people to catch on to.
