Da Werecat Posted March 20, 2017 To be fair, there was a period in recent gaming history when western developers went totally batshit insane and decided to pretty much ban failure in action games. They were probably trying to solve the "issue" of weak players complaining about the lack of quicksaves on the consoles, and provided infinite, penalty-free respawns instead. PC versions of such games had both quicksaves and infinite respawns. But hey, the players could always pretend that this mechanic doesn't exist. As well as ignore any clumsy attempts to weave it into the storyline. I'm not sure how influential this fad was, or whether we're even past it - I don't pay as much attention to the scene as ten years ago - but it harmed some promising titles in my time. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Coopersville Posted March 20, 2017 (edited) The game isn't designed around quicksaves and I never felt like I needed one. I use the crouch to dodge, and it's required when avoiding the Cyberdemon's up swipe/down swipe combo. If you got gud and used it, you wouldn't be needing glory kills either. Criticizing the modability of a iD game that's been out for less than five years then questioning the fortitude of its fanbase is quite lulz.
