Damn, we'll really need a big compilation WAD of all that stuff eventually. I think you did a great job with the wood stuff, the flats too naturally.

+ Separated Icy mountains, i didn't find compatible sky, and og one kinda blends with them. Hence here's cut out of mountans, should be usefull for someone. (Both seamless)

I am more or less keeping a running wad of the textures I've posted in this thread with everything stuffed into TEXTURES2

e: i honestly started doing this one a long time ago, as it was begging to be made, and recent experiments in the carvings gave me a method for it so:

I am amazed at the talent on this forum! I never really got into Heretic mapping because of the lack of textures, but that might change if this thread's work gets packaged up for download!

well good news I hacked together a hexen door edge to make more of a single piece look:

Guys, a question. How thick are you making "Shading lines" when you adding depth to concave parts of the textures? Like, 1pixel thick line of light and shadow? or thicker?

It really depends on the shape you want to make. In general, I use something between 2 and 4 pixels for "hard" lines, and many more for curves or a surface with a shallow slope.

I made a couple wood panels which coincidentally give both examples in one:hw_150_pan3.png.579641e4efc801533f3abc2545e1190c.png hw_150_pan2.png.13b3b7bba148bf67b74b634e98e8ccec.png

For the recessed bit in the middle, I used 2px lines for both the shadows and the highlights, and made them more intense than the bevels. The bevels are convex, but the same principle applies. They use 6px shadows and highlight lines, being 12px wide total.

I compiled all the textures I've made for this thread (minus the ones I made for Egregor which I understand will be in a different texture pack?), plus any Hexen graphics lumps I made extended sets for into a wad file: hamtextures_htic_rev1.zip

 

I am probably done making textures for the near future at least so it feels like a good compilation point.

E: this was intended to be a vanilla compatible resource, but a graphic lump in PNG format snuck in. The offending entry has been changed, link is updated

Thank you for answer. i think, little by litte i understand how shading works. Made "Obsidian texture and for practice's sake added tiles. All seamless and in pallete. When il have more to show , ill share a set.

Nice! I may have even use for some of those in yet another Heretic project... we're going full circle. :P

 

But yup, I did the edits myself for Syringe, but it's basically just doodles over Raven's work anyway so w/e. As long as people use 'em -- trees are cool. :P

Yes, I am slowly working on a Heretic texture pack that I would like to feature in a new, not yet announced, community project. This pack will pull from Heretic, Hexen, Bakers Legacy, Heretic 2, Hexen 2, other resources found at Realm667, and will also have custom edits I have specifically asked for from a few forum regulars. It's currently a WIP and is still kind of a mess. I'll eventually post the resource pack when I announce the CP but I still need to put the finishing touches on Endquest and submit it to the archives before then. My recent single level release linked below features an earlier version of this texture pack, if anyone is interested.

Great edits Jabba. Love seeing this thread resurrected, Heretic has like six (hyperbole) textures so getting some new ones is very appreciated.

I literally started making my textures because I was like "I should make a heretic episode" and got pissed off at the textures immediately

I wanted better looking light decorations, so I remade the fire animation for various Hexen, Heretic and other torches. The new anim ations have about 20 frames, dynamic light and ambient fire sound.

Here's the recolored orbs. It was my first time trying any sort of recoloring,  it may not be perfect but I like how it looks. 

 

cV0rR0G.png [New] Named KGZRA0. Recolored from Yellow.

KzuXk3s.png [New] This one is KGZSA0 (S for Steel because it's kind of a blued steel). Recolored from Blue.

iAuO6c0.png This is KGZIA0 (for "Iron"). Recolored from Green.

 

 

EDIT: Each new orbs right beside their original colours. The steel one is definitely more limited than blue colour wise but I think it looks great!

I lied when I said I was done making textures. Gonna do a few edits to include the lightforge rune symbols into things for people who want them. These wont go in my texture pack.

I would be surprised if he hadn't. Perhaps he'll post them here eventually.

 

EDIT: Changed the red orb, originally it was recolored after the green orb but recoloring it from the yellow orb make it stand out slightly better. Added it to my previous post. Also added the Steel one that's instead recolored from the blue orb as a base, instead of 2 recolors from green and 1 from yellow.

Yeah, I already have the gizmos in my decoration pack on Zdoom forums. They were simple recolors so I didn't bother posting them. I also made keydefs for them and even some alternate gizmos.

I recently looked at your textures and whatnot on another site and saw you had done them, really like the hud that accomodate those extra keys too.

But hey, now I know loosely how simple recoloring is so it was great practice for me.
