I think you did a great job with the wood stuff, the flats too naturally. In general, I use something between 2 and 4 pixels for "hard" lines, and many more for curves or a surface with a shallow slope. I made a couple wood panels which coincidentally give both examples in one: For the recessed bit in the middle, I used 2px lines for both the shadows and the highlights, and made them more intense than the bevels. The bevels are convex, but the same principle applies. They use 6px shadows and highlight lines, being 12px wide total. TheHambourgeois Posted September 14, 2022 (edited) I compiled all the textures I've made for this thread (minus the ones I made for Egregor which I understand will be in a different texture pack?), plus any Hexen graphics lumps I made extended sets for into a wad file: hamtextures_htic_rev1.zip I am probably done making textures for the near future at least so it feels like a good compilation point. E: this was intended to be a vanilla compatible resource, but a graphic lump in PNG format snuck in. I'm currently working slowly but steadily on a long-term mapping project, so any resources I'm making are going towards that and won't be available until it's done. But I may have a few edits I can send out into the world. These have a somewhat complicated backstory. Many of you probably know the "trees" texture that's in Hexen but I think unused in the game, which has appeared in repalleted and edited forms in many wads. Specifically, there are a bunch of cool edits of it in Syringe. I wanted to borrow those back into Heretic, but the Doom-paletted textures had lost some detail vs. the original. So I went to the original Hexen texture, made whatever edits were needed to get it properly into the Heretic palette (which I think required making it a bit brighter so it didn't flatten out), and then, using the Syringe edits as a reference, recreated them with that coloration -- and then recolored them with any other leaf colors that felt natural. I think the flats must have just been ripped and recolored from Syringe, possibly with manual editing from me, since I'm pretty sure they don't exist in Hexen. I'm not 100 percent sure who made the Syringe edits, but I think if you want to give the most thorough credit for these, it should probably be Raven Software, @Xaser, and myself. 22 Quote Share this post Link to post

This pack will pull from Heretic, Hexen, Bakers Legacy, Heretic 2, Hexen 2, other resources found at Realm667, and will also have custom edits I have specifically asked for from a few forum regulars. It's currently a WIP and is still kind of a mess. I'll eventually post the resource pack when I announce the CP but I still need to put the finishing touches on Endquest and submit it to the archives before then. [New] This one is KGZSA0 (S for Steel because it's kind of a blued steel). Recolored from Blue. This is KGZIA0 (for "Iron"). Recolored from Green. EDIT: Each new orbs right beside their original colours. The steel one is definitely more limited than blue colour wise but I think it looks great! I would be surprised if he hadn't. Perhaps he'll post them here eventually. EDIT: Changed the red orb, originally it was recolored after the green orb but recoloring it from the yellow orb make it stand out slightly better. Added it to my previous post. Also added the Steel one that's instead recolored from the blue orb as a base, instead of 2 recolors from green and 1 from yellow. I recently looked at your textures and whatnot on another site and saw you had done them, really like the hud that accomodate those extra keys too.
