Arioch Posted August 19, 2002 Not much advance notice for you guys, I know. despayre.org is going down Tuesday night. fraggle should have backups from the beginning of August, and he will be making another backup session before despayre.org goes down. I'm hoping to be back online ASAP, but there are no guarantees as to whether or not I will be able to continue hosting freedoom. arioch out 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Arioch Posted August 22, 2002 things look bad for internet connectivity where I'm going ... ISDN and dial-up seem to be my only 2 choices ... I'll keep you posted 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Jon Posted August 24, 2002 Where to is the problem. SF offers shell accounts and CGI, but not anonymous FTP. Doomworld offers web space, but no custom CGI or anon. FTP. It could be worth making a special arrangement with someone at tf. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

fraggle Posted August 25, 2002 What I will probably do is something along the lines of moving it to sourceforge and then using alkali or somewhere else for submissions. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
mmnpsrsoskl Posted August 25, 2002 You do that. Hopefully this can all get sorted out rather quickly, though, by the sounds of things, this does not sound likely :( 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Submerge Posted August 26, 2002 Ask elbryan42. Maybe He'll Help. But then again, he's been buried in his Doom 64 TC. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Jon Posted August 27, 2002 RailGunner said:yes. but there is a firewall so i can only do the ftping. So you don't offer shell access? Is it a UNIX machine? OR at least POSIX compliant so our build process can be used? What kind of uptime does it have? We aren't just going to run it off someone's desktop computer. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Kid Airbag Posted August 27, 2002 Would it be at all possible to get a Freedoom directory at ftp://3darchives.in-span.net/pub/idgames? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
cph Posted August 27, 2002 Sourceforge allow PHP IIRC, so an upload form is possible I suppose. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
fraggle Posted August 28, 2002 I submitted the project to SourceForge, today I got this email: Greetings, The SourceForge.net project registration you submitted has been reviewed once by a member of the first level support team for SourceForge.net. Per our internal procedures, for one of several possible reasons, we (the SourceForge.net team) need to review your project registration further before we are able to approve or reject this project officially. If you do not hear from us in the next 48 hours, and your project does not show up as active, please submit a support request, detailing the UNIX name used in this project registration. This will give us the means to easily contact you regarding any outstanding questions or concerns we have regarding your project registration. The email subject said "project denied" which freaked me out at first, but it isnt actually denied (yet), they just need more time to review it. This may be due to the license (I specified "other OSD-compliant license", so they probably need to approve it first) or possibly due to the fact it isnt a typical project - most projects on sourceforge are software projects, this is a bit different. I did emphasise the "Open Source" aspect to it and how this could be useful to other projects so hopefully that should be ok. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

We aren't just going to run it off someone's desktop computer. Im using a UNIX machine (solaris). The problem is that it's part of a network protected via firewall. I can host anything as long as i can only do the ftping. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

You should first check out what you can do with your account: <http://www.icculus.org/sysinfo/usage.html> If you contact him, you should also tell him how big your bandwidth usage could get. I hope you will get something worked out. Florian 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
