loveless Posted March 26, 2020 (edited) Hyper Dimension Neptunia 3 on PS Vita. Really enjoyed the first two, this social isolation business calls for a proper grind-fest! Edited March 26, 2020 by loveless typo 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Xianders Posted March 27, 2020 (edited) I play Half Life Alyx. I don't think the game needs any introduction. I hesitated for a long time whether to buy a VR helmet, but still decided to do it and did not regret it. This is a breakthrough game! And I'm sad to see that many companies are afraid to spend money on developing VR games. After all, it turns out that computer vision software company can help even independent developers create VR games. Edited April 3, 2020 by Xianders 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

diosoth Posted March 27, 2020 Sadly my enjoyment from Elder Scrolls, as was the case with Oblivion, is due to the modding community. On their own they are lousy games and my stance of "I would bet bored with Skyrim fast is not for mods" is one I'll stick by. I might enjoy the base game a bit more than Oblivion without them buy in 2-3 days I'd have done everything interesting. The MQ is a quick one and Alduin is designed to be an easy boss. The civil war is quick by design(most of the content was cut despite being finished- modders restored much of it) though killing Ulfric was enjoyable. He's a blowhard, selfish loon mad because he can't openly worship some god that never lifted a finger to help the Nords when they were in need(but the Divines will gladly punish the victim the second a vampire bites them). Companions is ultimately a letdown, the mage's college barely involves magic, the bard's college is 4 fetch quests... DB and Thieves Guild are practically forced upon players who don't want them, too, which got a lot of the game's content, but you have to be a despicable person. Bethesda not only got it in their heads that modders will "complete" a game but they let modders fix the bugs, too. Then they backstabbed those modders and later said only paid mods with an official backing matter(if you play SE with unofficial free mods, achievements are locked out and there is literally ONE online store that still sells LE). Fallout 76 is just the ultimate in how low they've sunk- and with TES Online being by a different studio they probably don't even count it as canon. Not as if I expect TES6 to ever come out, they don't seem interested in working on it. "But why would you give money to a company you frequently give a hard time to"? I decline to answer... also, the frequency and the specifics I criticize a company for seem to be rubbing people wrong and I've noticed more than a few e-stalkers following me online(they tend to say too much and give away they do this). I know too many sensitive people can't take differing viewpoints(and D44M has a nasty cult around the game) but after that crap Jeff Gerstmann got for his Fallout PS4 score and Todd Howard's flipping out on FO76 reviewers, I wouldn't be surprised if all Bethesda critics are being targeted. The company's going to fold by their own actions in a hurry and this will be exposed, damaging them further, if that really is the case. I'm not saying for sure it's true but it's not an act I'd put past them from observing past behavior(hell, Gerstmann all but directly accused them of paying people to insult him and he's been mildly critical of DE- that is to say, he didn't give the game a 100% and cited flaws- so just watch...) I'm done though. I've said what I said and I'm not apologizing or retracting. Don't cry "free speech" if you only like hearing what you agree with. I'll express it again if asked, if that upsets you I don't care. If you're stalking me over what I said then I'll just have to retaliate, I don't bend over and take that crap. I'm done being nice to idiots online. If I wanted peace I'd keep my mouth shut, and if I have to apologize for my views then I may as well not say anything. Funny how the side that goes on and on about free speech is the same one that expects my side to keep quiet if we don't agree with you, but it's what I expect from the DE fans crying about MK11's advertising. Now to lose my password to this board as I don't remember it and just let the browser store it. I've said all I have to say on any topic here, because it would be repeating myself to an audience that's heard it and I have no attachment to your community. I don't make WADs, I don't contribute, no one's going to miss a random stranger walking off and I have nothing to add nor will I in the future. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

How are you liking/liked La Mulana? I'm in a MV group and it seems to be pretty polarizing. I have it, but have yet to play. But speaking of MVs... I am currently playing Doom Eternal, Cosmic Star Heroine, and Alwa's Awakening for backlog games. Non backlog games I'm mixing in the Glass Masquerade 2, Legend of Keepers, Heroes of the Storm, MK11, and Garou. All pretty casually. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
ZealknightMR Posted March 29, 2020 Doom Eternal (just finished recently) Grim Dawn. Such an amazing ARPG. I've been playing this on and off, but I've been playing a lot again since my brother got hooked to this game a couple of weeks ago. I love that the maps aren't randomly generated. That alone is a crazy though for ARPG fans, but the maps are designed to encourage exploring around. You can backtrack later and open up new passages by repairing bridges or opening up caves with dynamites. Just like Doom, there are secret passages you can open up for shortcuts, or mostly finding secret chest boxes, which contains lots of loot!. You can play as 6 classes (9 if you have both expansion installed). Each class have their own set of skills and passives you can put points into as you level up, but you can choose to dual-class, which open up all kinds of crazy class combos. There's even unique items you'll find that were specifically made for such class combos! There's so many uniques you'll find to, but rare items (even magic items) can have affixes and suffixes that are so good that they can be better than certain uniques you may be looking for! There are shrines you can find around the world to power up your character. Whenever you restore one, you earn a devotion point. You can use these points to light up the constellation stars on your devotion tree, which is Grim Dawn's version of PoE's passive tree. I'm playing through the 2nd expansion, The Forgotten Gods, and it's already a great expansion! Both expansion packs are great! If Crate Entertainment announces Grim Dawn 2 in the future, you bet I'll be hyped as hell! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

I use a notepad for hints and clues and only use a spoilerfree walkthrough if I've been walking around for two hours with no luck. I actually kinda prefer it to Spelunky. Hope you enjoy it! Phobus Posted March 29, 2020 I did finish Rage 2 before Doom Eternal came out. They both have spectacular gun play and movement mechanics - the former probably had slightly better abilities for crowd engagement, what with the ground pound and gravity bomb nanotrite abilities, but the latter was leaps ahead in terms of enemy variety and level design. Rage 2 was probably the best shooting experience of 2019, but a somewhat underwhelming world to play in. Doom Eternal may well be my favourite game of all time, and certainly the closest to perfection I've ever played in a shooter - the adrenaline rush and frantic pace of the fights was so addictive! I also replayed Doom 2016 before playing Eternal, which held up pretty well IMO, but did suffer for me having played Rage 2 beforehand. Because the combat and movement in Rage 2 is so quick and you've got such a nice variety of abilities at your fingertips, Doom felt a little slow by comparison. Still very enjoyable, with great levels and fantastic combat, but I could already see how it would be superseded. Sure enough, Eternal managed it. My fear is that id Software will somehow improve upon the combat formula even more for whatever they make next and all other shooters will feel slow and stiff, in time. Whilst the wait for campaign DLC for Doom Eternal begins (I really hope it's not just Master Levels, as I don't think I want "more challenge, same environments" - I only beat it in UV with some difficulty, so I could just replay on Nightmare if that was my goal), I'm going back to the backlog. Assassin's Creed II (on PC, with an XBox 360 controller wired in) took about half an hour to get back into earlier this week, and now I'm settled in the groove, I'm really enjoying it. I guess 100% completing the original before moving onto this probably burnt me out a bit, but now I've had a few months away, the Renaissance Italy setting and lovely smooth platforming/free-running mechanics (when I'm not stuck repeatedly re-mounting my horse or whatever because the contextual behaviour isn't doing what I want) are making for some enjoyable time spent exploring and collecting. Shame there's no in-game map for the feathers, so I've resorted to using the internet for that, as I've already restored my villa/fort town and filled out my armour and arms collections nicely and would have the in-game cash to spare. Artwork collecting will take some time, but my income is pretty high and I've been efficiently working my way through the challenges and treasure pickups to supplement it. Shamelessly picking pockets (fucking bards...) and looting bodies also helps! The story of Ezio himself is pretty enjoyable, particularly with Uncle "It'sa me!" Mario adding some roguishness to the mix, but the weird, "Da Vinci Code"-style "The Truth" segments aren't doing much for me. The puzzling is a little too basic to be anything more than a time sink, and I don't feel like I'm making anything but the most basic connections before it goes "well done, you got a code that, if you press "A" right now, will unlock a pointless video clip". Maybe it's all worth it for some in-game reward in the end. I might take a break from PC gaming today to fire up the NES Classic Mini and finish off The Legend of Zelda. I seem to remember being stuck on the fourth dungeon boss, as I'm cutting one head off before dying. I'm sure that'll be a test of patience to overcome. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
hybridial Posted March 29, 2020 I decided to play Plutonia again, having only finished it once prior and having a hell of a time with it being decidedly still new to Doom proper. Things I'd observe on it: The first two levels are awful. Ugly, forced, dull, and not in anyway reflective of the skills used to make the majority of the other maps. Once you get past them, it gets a lot better. In fact, it gets really fun, despite how hard it is. Hunted feels like an early tech demo for survival horror FPSes. There are some maps I'd definitely say were worthy of throwing in my favourite's list. Caughtyard is one of the best Dead Simple takes. Its a hard mapset to start because of how the first two levels are, but it becomes a lot better than they suggest, and its necessary to play to get better at Doom if you want to go out exploring user made maps. TNT Revilution for the record is probably the hardest one I've finished and I really liked it. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
kinker31 Posted March 30, 2020 I've been playing a bit more Bloons Tower Defense 6/Beat Hazard 2/Quake 1 lately, and I've been dipping my toes into Quake 2, Duke 3D (Since I finally managed to update the feckin' game after FreeDOS, an archive or two, and my sanity) NGU Idle, Infinifactory, and I've been trying to get myself re-familiarized with Knytt Stories, Minecraft, and maybe Worms Armageddon. I both live a sad life and busy life, don't I? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted April 4, 2020 After finishing Doom Eternal I decided to try Fallout 4. I've never played any Fallout game before. I've also never played an Elder Scrolls. I know these aren't similar games but they go together in my mind. So far I've enjoyed exploring stuff, though I have done some console commands to speed along the process (movement speed, minigun ammo, inventory space). 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Phobus Posted April 4, 2020 I got all excited and beat Assassin's Creed 2 after my last post. Really enjoyed it! The cliffhanger ending was expected after the last game, although I'm fighting the urge to jump straight into Brotherhood. Legend of Zelda probably wants playing tomorrow, then after that I'll be looking at picking up my play through of Red Dead Redemption 2 on PS4 (when I'm not at my desk thanks to work and can get to the TV). On PC I'm trying to limit myself to getting back to Thief - Gold, as I've had it since 2013 and never really gotten further than a few levels in, even on a low difficulty. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
joepallai Posted April 4, 2020 Wrapping up The Outer Worlds, overall it's a fun game and I can see me doing another run through to explore a different character type. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
3saster Posted April 6, 2020 Playing Warhammer: Vermintide 2 now (yay sales). It's really fun so far! It's like a melee focused version of Left 4 Dead. Now I just need some friends to play it with... 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
almostmatt1 Posted April 6, 2020 Final Fantasy 9, first time trying the PC version. The best FF game, IMO, with 6 coming second very closely. As soon as I can get Dwarf Therapist running for Dwarf Fortress on linux, I'll be playing plenty of that, too. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Phobus Posted April 6, 2020 Haven't started Thief yet (and I'm not feeling an urge), so I found a couple of hours over the weekend to advance my Legend of Zelda playthrough from "Level 4" to "Level 6" - the struggle is real, but I'm getting there. Without save states, I sincerely believe I'd not beat this game. Without the internet, I suspect I'd not have found the fifth dungeon. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

Devils950003 Posted April 8, 2020 Tried to get into the remake of the first Panzer Dragoon that was recently released (got it for the Switch)...God it's awful. None of the magic or soul of the Saturn original. Doesn't feel right at all. Very disappointing. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

kalaeth Posted April 8, 2020 Right now I'm playing Advance Wars (for the GBA). Found a decent GBA emulator for Android a while back and I've been going through some old games (Dragonball - Advance Adventure GBA, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Fire Emblem, Lord of the Rings - The Third Age, Onimusha Tactics and Monster Gate, to name a few) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
The Doommer Posted April 8, 2020 Well after beating Eternal, I moved to Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition (I was already playing it before Doom Eternal though) It's a really good remaster of the original Age of Empires II : The Conquerors and has all the HD Edition Civilizations + 4 new ones It's a game with need of a git gud mentality for the player. Otherwise, you'll give up fast 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
