TNT: Revilution demos [-complevel 4]

Map01 NM-Pacifist in 0.15.83

This is an idea of a category I've come up with but I'm probably not the first person to come up with this idea, so I decided to make a demo of it and submit.

 

This demo beats my NM-Speed record that I currently hold for this map plus beats my pacifist time for this map too.

 

Whether or not this is a new category is up to Andy obviously but I guess it's interesting and fun and for an example map this map is good for this demo to showcase.

 

Lets see the opinion on this category.

@Bob9001These mixed categories usually belong to a major category with notes... For example, the so called "Tyson Grandmaster" is put in the category of UV Tyson and noted with "Tyson with -Fast". Personal selfish hope is that UV Max/Reality is a category instead of a subordinate category under UV Max.

The trouble with "subcategory" modifiers like reality or pacifist is that you start getting to a point where navigation becomes confusing. There's also the issue where tons of runs are reality and not marked; probably lots of NM pacifist runs aren't marked either.

 

How to highlight these special condition runs better is something we're thinking a lot about wrt dsda3 though. Probably not going into tons of categories, but maybe having something that has a place in between category and note. Reality is such a prevalent note that I've considered making a symbol or other flourish to indicate it instead of text.

 

I do think some of these are worth increasing their visibility versus super oddball stuff, especially considering some of the superb reality maxes that have been put out over time. Not sure what works best though.

 

Also just fyi, things like gm Tyson go into "other", because using -fast means the run doesn't fulfill the restrictions of the main category itself.

Yeah I see that because I'm not the first person to come with that idea. But if you could make a category on DSDA 3 I'd probably do more demos for this.

 

My opinion is Nightmare is hard enough and the fact that you cant shoot anything when you try pacifist, makes it even more of a challenge.

Ah... yeah, UV Tyson + -Fast is not UV Tyson anymore...

 

I would say colored symbols would be a good idea. Another one that I personally wanted to "promote" to this level is Stroller. I know handling these things takes a lot of effort... BTW, I hope dsdarchive.com will eventually have a night mode.

Stroller is already a full category on dsda3. If you notice any strollers still in the pacifist category let me know. There's a demo pack coming btw and there will be a lot of strollers 💹

 

Everyone wants night mode but no one will volunteer to design it 🤷 I have no skill for design so I just took an existing scheme that fit well structurally and tweaked it a bunch. It's on the list to have night mode but there's a lot on that list...

Heh... I thought I'm the weird one, but it turns out many has requested night mode. Maybe I can feedback for color usages after you put in that scheme... I have no knowledge in programming website or whatsoever (I can only do *.jsp, but that's some ooooooooutdated $h!t...).

Map 28 - Superweapon Facility UV-Max solo-net in 24:32.

 

9 monsters (2 Arachnotrons and 7 Zombiemen) are unkillable due to the fact that two Arachnotrons block a sector from lowering when you pick up the red key.

Map 31 - Anubis UV Max in 18:15

Had to come back to this to re-do the max, but I cut over 3 minutes off of my PB so I'm happy with that, some interesting fights in this map. Very good map design once you figure out a route heh.
