Even though it was placed on an actual shelf alongside real things, I still wanted to believe that this was a shop.

It doesn't surprise me, I remember stocking Toilet Trouble when I worked at Toys 'R Us. There were all kinds of board games with dubious premises, so one about poop doesn't come as a shock. I do remember people getting freaked out that we sold Ouija boards though, and that really took me by surprise. Some concerned mother walking up to me, serious as a heart attack and asking me "How can you people sell this game? This is a demon game!". And I just laughed, and told her it's just a game. And yes, I've played with a Ouija Board, the same one that was a childhood toy of my Dad, Aunt, and Uncles when they were growing up. As far as I know, none of us are cursed by demons.

Problem is, all your Dooming has desensitized you to slaughtering demons - you know they're no trouble. Your average shopper searching for Timmy's birthday present might not have even beaten the iwads on HMP, nor are they likely to own a plasma gun.

I hit IDDQD before I ever even knew there was a Lost Soul, because I'm a true Doomer who knows all the codes to hacxing Doom!

 

And who knows, maybe it's possible that a Ouija Board had some weird impact on my life. There are certainly things in my life that didn't turn out the way I expected them to. But there's people who also used the same Ouija Board and things didn't turn out the way they expected, but better than mine in ways. Or worse than mine in ways.

 

It's almost like life is this weird amalgamation of ever-growing circumstances, actions, reactions, and interactions with the world around us that we can't completely control. 

 

Or it could just be the Ouija Board, I mean I had a coworker that was also shocked that we sold the demon tables. Her mother woke up the next morning with scratches on her face after playing with one, while she was in college. I really felt like saying "Yeah, that could be demons. Or it might be that your Mom was playing a drunken game of Ouija, fell, and scratched her face and she's been too embarrassed to admit it... but it's probably demons in a board game." Instead I just said "I don't believe you".
