There were certainly better pistols designed during that time, with more punch, the Colt 1911 comes to mind, but it is a nice looking pistol. And really it's not a World War 2 pistol, production ceased in 1937, but now I'm just splitting hairs. The Walther P38 was probably the better firearm. The C96 did have a 10 round magazine well, but it had to be fed either with individual rounds, or via stripper clips. The Luger P08 and Walther P38 only had eight round magazines (well, the Luger had a 32 round drum magazine produced, but it's not common), but they were detachable, so it reduced reloading time. Still, neat firearms, I'd love to get the chance to take one to the range. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post

Fat chance of that happening, considering that there are probably only a handful of functioning Mausers around. But I know what you mean. The design just sparks my imagination. On a side note, I had a toy Mauser as a kid that I just absolutely loved. [I also had a Colt .45 Peacemaker replica, complete with gun belt, holster, and dummy bullets that mysteriously disappeared from my possession.] On topic (can you believe the size of this creature?): 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
