Rudolph Posted January 3 Paranoia Agent is simply amazing. I have finished watching it and I can safely say it is my favorite creation from the late Satoshi Kon. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
Lizardcommando Posted January 3 Glad you enjoyed it! It's definitely one of his best works. Have you watched Paprika or Perfect Blue yet? 2 Quote Share this post Link to post

Incidentally, I could not help but be reminded of both of them as I watched Paranoia Agent: the bulk of the show oftentimes felt like a wackier and/or lighter-hearted Paprika, but the finale was totally Paprika, right down to the apocalyptic setting and metaphorical black goo. I also saw Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers. If I were to rank them all, I would put Paranoia Agent first, followed closely by Tokyo Godfathers and then Perfect Blue. Millenium Actress and Paprika were not bad, but I did not find the former all that compelling and the latter's setting and cast felt constrained by the feature-length format and as such did not make as much of an impression on me as Paranoia Agent's. aloysiusfreeman Posted January 3 I am three episodes into Pluto on Netflix, and damn it is knocking me out. Sci-fi at its finest IMO. Only qualm I have is that some of the english VA is a bit lacking, but easily overlooked. 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
VoanHead Posted February 19 Gonna revive the thread a bit to bookmark some of the recommendations here to my anilist & throw in a few that I really liked: Samurai Champloo- Honest to God, I think I like this one a bit more than Cowboy Bebop. Same author, and SC is a tad more light hearted Mob Psycho 100- pretty good shounen that subverts some of the tropes found in other shounen anime, alongside having some pretty good lessons to teach. Hinamatsuri- this show is fucking stupid, but pretty funny ngl. It's short too and the manga is great to read right after. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
