ZeroMaster010 Posted November 8, 2017 I always wanted to try to a full wad that nobody else had done before. Alien Vendetta was the most obvious choice since it's one of my favourite wads, it's well known and it was made partially by a few norwegians :) Youtube: I was hoping to stream this a lot more, but it turns out I only needed a single attempt at this. Apparently I had prepared enough, though there were several moments which should have killed me, but I got away with it. I've included most tricks that I know of (except for a rocket jump on map 19 which is too difficult). This also includes the new switch trick on map 20, which is kind of a shame since it's an amazing map :) and also an east-directed guideless glide with moving dark blue\water textures which is the cyberdemon of glides! Definitely a lot of time that can be saved, especially on the later maps. Maybe I could try again sometime and attempt to rush through the later levels now that I have an exit. And if you haven't noticed the DSDA youtube channel and want to watch some AV.wad IL's, then you can find UV-Speed\Max and NM-Speed here: UV-Speed: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTmV4zpWzC8k3Qrh5d_xdml957C3LhAbD (1:07:55) UV-Max: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTmV4zpWzC8lhXxlXS1yNXobHZNS8oWye (3:46:08) NM-Speed: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTmV4zpWzC8ngU3JVxr4stitW83EVzOHT (1:54:16) Also don't include avmovfix.wad if you play the demo. 30av9321.zip 30 Quote Share this post Link to post

GarrettChan Posted November 8, 2017 While I'm still minding my stupid little business, ZeroMaster has already finished the whole run of AV, incredible! 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted November 8, 2017 Any reason for that detour to chaingun at the start of Map01? :) 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
GrumpyCat Posted November 8, 2017 Excellent! On map 26 you can save 1.5 minutes by just grabbing blue key without waking monsters, see the attach. Of course very useful for -nomonsters runs too! Not the easiest grab but I am sure you can find reliable setup. av26_keygrab.zip 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
ZeroMaster010 Posted November 8, 2017 I think I wanted to use the chaingun more on map 02, but last minute I decided to stick to SSG instead, but then I forgot about ignoring the chaingun, heh. I didn't think about doing a key grab on the BK on map 26, keygrabs need a certain starting position to work and so I just assumed even if it was possible that I couldn't get it reliably. However, I should have tried that before I spent maybe 1-2 hours trying to find a setup for skipping both linedefs. I did find some positions that made it possible, but they were too precise. I eventually gave up and just went with clearing the room. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Dingir Posted November 8, 2017 Oh yes, a d2all uv-speed of one of my favourite wads...! Amazing run, Zero-Master, and with some gut-wrenching close calls as a bonus! :D 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Szymanski Posted November 8, 2017 As impressive as it is the rocket jump on Clandestine Complex is kinda heartbreaking 1 Quote Share this post Link to post
dugan Posted November 9, 2017 I know how hard Alien Vendetta is, and all I can say is OH MY GOD 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
Crusader No Regret Posted November 10, 2017 Obligatory congrats and well done. I found myself disproportionately entertained by the BLOCKMAPPED moment in map 27. 0 Quote Share this post Link to post

vdgg Posted November 10, 2017 This WAD is hard. There were no episode UV-Speed runs before, and for a reason. D2ALL is as insane as j4rio's Scythe2 run. Congratulations, well done with risk management. Also, I'm not super familiar with all the UV Speed records and all the tricks, but a few moments looked like novelties to me; has the rocket jump on MAP24 been ever tried before? 0 Quote Share this post Link to post
